Shana Falana -- CMJ schedule & album stream (listen)

Back in March, we posted the first single from New York duo Shana Falana‘s (which is also the singer’s name) debut album, the awesomely titled Set Your Lightning Fire Free, and that album is out now on Team Love. It makes a bit of sense to call this “dream pop,” but that tag usually evokes sleepy, hazy sounds and this album roars. Shana is a real powerhouse singer and they’ve got pounding drums, heavily layered guitars and keyboards, and more massive instrumentation. The band is playing CMJ this week, and they have two shows lined up at the moment. The first is the Campers Rule Records showcase on Thursday (10/15) at The Flat with Gingerlys, Holy Tunics, Gunfight!, Spirit Plate and Soft Sirens; and the second is the free Team Clermont showcase on Saturday (10/17) at Union Pool with Christian Hutson, J Fernandez and Tuff Sunshine.
