Shea Stadium’s Meadow St location closed for good
A couple months ago, Bushwick DIY spot Shea Stadium broke the unfortunate news that they lost their lease at 20 Meadow St and are forced to relocate. They were planning some final shows for this week, but sadly the venue was forced to close for good before all the shows could take place. Their last night was Tuesday (6/20). Here’s a message from the Shea family:
Hey y’all – Unfortunately we’ll no longer be opened for the shiva dates we had planned this week. We were psyched at the opportunity to have everyone back in the space one last time to say final goodbyes, but it now seems impossible to have any more events no matter how small.
Thank you for your incredible support over the last eight years. It’s been a difficult few months but reflecting on the joy you’ve brought into our space has made this dark chapter in Shea history a little brighter.
We hope to see you all soon and <3 always A N L & The Shea Family
We hope to see you soon too, Shea.
Check out a few pics of the final night at the venue:
(9/9) Inadvertent placement of the E case, this morning at 6AM, watching the sun rise over #20meadowstreet, as I left #SheaStadiumBK for the last time. The better feelings involved capping off three excellent days of work (including two very productive midnight-til-dawn marathons, thank you @amandabeland for the help). There is much more to come. Stay tuned. Long live @sheastadiumbk. My man @amorican83 said it best: "This place HUMS." #sheastadium #onward #DIY
almost cried tonight playing for the last time ever at shea. feels like losing a home. having a lot of emotions right now
