Shellshag

Shellshag released a greatest hits, touring with Bully; Shag doing Slits doc Q&A

DIY lifers Shellshag released an 18-song Greatest Hits earlier this month digitally and on cassette, via their own Starcleaner Records. It includes music from 2007’s Destroy Me I’m Yours (Starcleaner), 2010’s Rumors In Disguise (Don Giovanni), 2012’s Fuck Society Volume 1 (Mauled by Tigers), 2013’s Shellshag Forever (Don Giovanni), and 2015’s Why’d I Have To Get So High? (Starcleaner/Don Giovanni), plus their theme to Chris Gethard’s Beautiful/Anonymous podcast, their cover of Liz Phair’s “Fuck and Run,” and their cover of When In Rome’s “Promise.” You can stream the whole thing below and pre-order the cassette here.

Shellshag are also opening several dates on Bully‘s tour this month, and after that, they’ll pay a headlining show on April 29 at Asbury Park Brewery with Lyons, Ear and Swamp City Rockers (tickets). All dates are listed below.

As previously mentioned, Shellshag member Jennifer Shagawat produced the new Slits documentary (and has also tour-managed for them), Here to be Heard: The Story of The Slits. There are several screenings/Q&As worldwide coming up, including one in NYC for Nitehawk’s Music Driven series (co-presented by BrooklynVegan). That happens May 8 at Nitehawk and the Q&A features Jennifer Shagawat alongside director William E. Badgley, moderated by Jenn Pelly (Pitchfork). Tickets are on sale.
