Jonsi and Alex Lost and Found

Sigur Ros's Jonsi & Alex Somers surprise-release new LP, starting tour (win NYC tix & merch prize pack!)

Jonsi (Sigur Ros) and Alex Somers are beginning their Riceboy Sleeps 10th anniversary tour in Seattle tonight (10/11), and in conjunction with the start of the tour, the duo have surprise-released a new album called Lost & Found. Like the Riceboy Sleeps album, it’s heavy on Eno-esque ambient soundscapes, and as you’d expect from these two, it’s truly gorgeous stuff. Listen below.

The Riceboy Sleeps tour is “the first and last time” Jonsi and Alex will perform the album in full, and they’ll be joined by the 40-piece orchestra/choir Wordless Music Ochestra, conducted by Robert Ames; music for the orchestra was written by Le Poisson Rouge founder and composer David Handler. After Seattle, the tour hits San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, Montreal, Toronto, Washington DC, and Boston before wrapping up in NYC on Halloween.

The NYC show happens at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre on October 31, and you can get tickets now. We’re also giving away a pair, and it comes with a prize pack that includes a slipmat, a journal, a totebag, and an autographed triple LP featuring a new remastered version of the Riceboy Sleeps album packaged with Jonsi & Alex’s 2009 EP All Animals. Here are details about those:

AUTOGRAPHED TRIPLE LP’s

To mark its 10th anniversary and first-ever live performances of the album with orchestral, Jónsi & Alex Somers are releasing a new analogue remastered version of their seminal 2009 ambient work, Riceboy Sleeps. The remastering has been overseen by the artists themselves, in what they see as the definitive pressing of the record. For the reissue, the album will be expanded from a double to a triple vinyl, taking in their only other released work as Jónsi & Alex Somers, the 30-minute EP, All Animals. The release will come on 3 x standard weight black 140gram vinyl packaged in a special gatefold sleeve with rounded corners.
