Simian Mobile Disco's Jas Shaw diagnosed with rare disease; U.S. tour canceled

Simian Mobile Disco have had to cancel their upcoming U.S. tour as the duo’s Jas Shaw has been diagnosed with rare disease AL amyloidosis. SMD shared the news today:

We are sorry to announce that we are cancelling our forthcoming American tour, scheduled for June 2018.

Unfortunately Jas Shaw has recently been diagnosed with AL amyloidosis, a rare disease caused by abnormal deposition and accumulation of proteins in the tissues of the body (you can read more about here – http://www.amyloidosis.org.uk).

He is receiving treatment but unfortunately this means he is not able to tour, and we have reluctantly decided that SMD’s live performances will have to be put on hold for at least a few months.

We are hopeful that following treatment, he will be able to return to a full work schedule but we’re currently not in a position to confirm when this will be.

Our upcoming “Murmurations” show at the Barbican in London on the 4th of April will still happen as planned but will be the final SMD live show for a while. We have decided to donate our profits from this show to the UCL Amyloidosis research fund – https://www.justgiving.com/fundr…/uclamyloidosisresearchfund.

We’d like to thank all our fans, past & present for their continued support and we hope to see you soon.

We wish Jas a speedy recovery. Simian Mobile Disco’s U.S. tour included a show at Brooklyn’s Elsewhere Zone One on June 8
