SiR releases two new songs (one with Schoolboy Q), touring with Miguel

Inglewood rapper/R&B singer SiR (aka Sir Darryl Farris) has written songs for such big names as Jill Scott, Robert Glasper, Anita Baker and Stevie Wonder, and he picked up some buzz as a solo artist with his 2015 mixtape Seven Sundays. He caught the ears of Top Dawg Entertainment and ended up on albums by TDE artists Jay Rock and Isaiah Rashad before revealing earlier this year that he signed to TDE himself. His first release since the signing was this past February’s Her Too EP (which features Masego, King Mez, and Anderson .Paak, the latter of whom is also on Seven Sundays), the sequel to 2016’s Her EP (which features Big K.R.I.T.).

Details on his first album for TDE are still unknown to the public, but he just dropped two new songs, “Something New” and “Something Foreign.” The former features British soul singer Etta Bond and the latter features his TDE labelmate Schoolboy Q. The piano-fueled “Something Foreign” is a real classic-sounding ballad, while the more beat-driven “Something New” dips its toes into ’90s neo-soul. They’re both worth hearing, and they’re keeping the anticipation for SiR’s album pretty high.

SiR is opening Miguel‘s 2018 tour, which also has Nonchalant Savant on all dates. That tour includes the NYC shows on March 23 at Terminal 5 and March 24 at Brooklyn Steel. Tickets for those shows go on sale Monday (12/4) at noon and presales are underway now. Miguel’s new album War & Leisure comes out tonight at midnight (12/1).
