Skinny Puppy / Front Line Assembly @ Gramercy Theatre 12/2/2014
Three industrial vets teamed with a buzzing younger act — an “Alliance of Sound,” if you will — at Best Buy Theater on Tuesday (12/2) and we’ve got pictures from the whole night in this post. This was Skinny Puppy‘s second NYC show this year, having already played on Valentine’s Day. It was a typically in-your-face show from Nivek Ogre and company, with the ripping out of teeth, blood and glowing liquids (and dog food) splattered about.
It’s been a while longer since we’ve seen fellow Canadian industrial/EBM group Front Line Assembly, who were a late add onto this bill and probably could’ve headlined themselves. Frontman Bill Leeb was in Skinny Puppy during their early days, and his energy levels don’t seem to have lagged too much since. Despite some sound issues early in the set, Germany’s Haujobb (who’ve been around since the mid-’90s) recovered nicely and were perhaps the night’s most vitalized band. Youth Code opened the night, throwing some punk energy (and fuzz) into the mix.
