Smashing Pumpkins' NJ show will feature Courtney Love, Peter Hook, mems of AFI, Deftones, Killers & more

You may remember that The Smashing Pumpkins said the NJ show on their ongoing “reunion” tour would be a “30th anniversary show” and that it would feature “special guests.” Now the guests have been revealed, including Billy Corgan’s old friend and collaborator Courtney Love, former New Order/Joy Division bassist Peter Hook (who Billy has covered Joy Division with before), Deftones frontman Chino Moreno, AFI frontman Davey Havok (who joined the Pumpkins for a Joy Divison cover at a warm-up show earlier this year), The Killers members Dave Keuning and Mark Stoermer, and, for some reason, Sugar Ray frontman Mark McGrath (who also made videos that the Pumpkins have been showing on stage during this tour).

Like the rest of the tour, Canadian indie rockers Metric are opening. Tickets are still available. The NJ show is one day after the Pumpkins and Metric play NYC’s Madison Square Garden (tickets).

This tour features original members Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin, and they’ve been focusing on music from their first five albums, plus their new “reunion” single “Solara” and some covers, including, yes, “Stairway to Heaven.”
