Smidley and Saintseneca release new songs ahead of tour with Tigers Jaw

Tigers Jaw are releasing their anticipated new album spin, the first release for producer Will Yip’s Atlantic imprint Black Cement, this Friday (5/19) and they’ll begin a tour in DC that same day. Opening the tour is Saintseneca and Smidley (aka Foxing singer Conor Murphy), who both have new songs out today.

Smidley’s “Dead Retrievers” is the third single off his self-titled solo album (due 6/2 via Triple Crown). Like the two previous singles, it’s a departure from Foxing’s depressive post-rock, instead favoring bright, energetic indie rock. Watch the video for the song (made by Nicole Ruggiero) below.

Saintseneca’s “Book of the Dead On Sale” appears to just be a one-off single in preparation for the tour. (Unless they secretly have a new release in the works?) It’s their first new music since The Mallwalker EP, which came out in December. The indie folk band’s harmonies are as rich as ever, but this is something a little different for them. It kinda sounds like WHY?. Listen below.

The Tigers Jaw/Saintseneca/Smidley tour hits Asbury Park on Saturday (5/2) at The Stone Pony (tickets) and NYC on June 22 at Webster Hall (tickets). All dates are listed below.

Tigers Jaw’s latest single off spin is “Escape Plan” and you can hear that below too. In case you missed it, read our interview with Tigers Jaw and Will Yip.
