Wilco‘s biennial Solid Sound Festival continued on Saturday at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA. Having played a “karaoke” set on Friday night with contest winners singing lead, Wilco played a proper set on Saturday, including two new songs — “Empty Corner” and “White Wooden Cross.” Perhaps we’ll have a new album by the time they tour this fall. Stay tuned for news on that but meanwhile you can watch video of “Empty Corner,” and check out the setlist, below.
Also on Saturday: Scott McCaughey’s The Minus 5, whose lineup included Peter Buck & Mike Mills of R.E.M. as well as Kurt Bloch (Fastbacks), Linda Pitmon and The Junior League’s Joe Adragna, played a fun set and welcomed The Dream Syndicate’s Steve Wynn up for few songs.
Cate Le Bon, who played Brooklyn just a couple nights before, brought the new lineup of her band (which includes Younghusband‘s Euan Hinshelwood) to Solid Sound and Jeff Tweedy came out to play on a few songs during her set.
More: Tortoise, who played a live score to classic silent sci-fi short La Jetee, on Friday played a regular set on Saturday; Tuareg guitarist Mdou Moctar packed out MASS MoCA’s Courtyard C space for his set; former Cibo Matto member Yuka Honda played pop-up set under her Eucademix guise in one of the galleries; and The Feelies brought out Jeff Tweedy to cover Neil Young’s “Don’t Cry No Tears” during their main stage performance.
