Sonic Youth add more 'Daydream Nation' screenings

Sonic Youth documentary 30 Years of Daydream Nation, directed by Lance Bangs, has been screening around the country since last fall, and there are a few more coming up in August, all of which feature post-screening Q&As with drummer Steve Shelley and SY archivist Aaron Mullan. At the Massachusetts screenings in Amherst (8/14) and Brookline (8/18) they’ll be joined by writer Byron Coley; at the Richmond screening (8/15) they’ll be joined by Tannis Root/Kung-Fu co-founder Bill Mooney; and at the DC screening (8/16), Brendan Canty (Fugazi/The Messthetics) will join them.

That same week, Rooftop Films is presenting Sonic Youth: NYC and Beyond on August 17 at Murmrr Theatre in Brooklyn. It features a New York-specific collection of films and videos from the band’s private archives, plus a Q&A with Shelley, Mullan and Lee Ranaldo. Tickets are still available.
