Sonic Youth's tour/studio gear shop open now; Lee Ranaldo preps live LP

As promised, the Official Sonic Youth Reverb Shop is open now on Reverb.com and features “more than 200 pieces of gear used on tour and in the studio as far back as the 1988 and 1989 Daydream Nation tours through to 2011” and “nearly 200 screen-printed show posters, rare poster-sized photographs, memorabilia, and personal relics from concerts throughout the band’s career.” There’s tons of cool stuff available, like lots of guitars the band used (including the original prototype of Lee Ranaldo’s signature Jazzmaster), tons of pedals, amps, road cases with the band’s name spray-painted on, show posters from back in the day, and much more. Visit the store here and note that stuff is already going quickly.

In other Sonic Youth news, Lee Ranaldo announced a new live album, Electric Trim Live at Rough Trade East, which was recorded at an October 2017 acoustic solo show that Lee played to celebrate the release of his latest solo album, Electric Trim. The live album was mixed by Raül ‘Refree’ Fernandez (who produced Electric Trim), and Lee is currently streaming two songs from it, “Last Looks” and “Circular (Right As Rain).” Listen to both and check out the album artwork below.

Sonic Youth also have more of their Daydream Nation 30th anniversary film screenings/Q&As coming up, including a sold-out night at Brooklyn’s Alamo Drafthouse on 11/19 with Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley scheduled for the Q&A.

Thurston Moore and Steve Shelley are also going on the “New Noise Guitar Explorations” tour together, and Thurston has an upcoming residency at The Stone.
