Soul Rebels playing BK shows ft. ACTQ members, Melle Mel, Rakim, Raekwon

NOLA brass band The Soul Rebels are touring this year, including a three-night run at NYC’s Brooklyn Bowl on March 2, 3, and 4. The Soul Rebels often have exciting rappers show up at their shows, and these will be no different.

Night 1 has groundbreaking old school rapper Melle Mel (of “The Message” fame) and a guy who became a groundbreaker himself just a few years later, Rakim. Other surprise guests are promised as well.

Night 2 has A Tribe Called Quest member Jarobi and unofficial Tribe member Consequence, plus Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon and more surprise guests. UPDATE: Mobb Deep has been added to night 2, as well. Check out pics of their recent BB Kings show.

Night 3 will be celebration of the music of Nas (who they’re backing at New Orleans Jazz Fest this year, like they did at Brooklyn Hip Hop Fest last year), Lauryn Hill, Jay Z and Biggie.

Tickets for night 1, night 2, and night 3 are on sale now.

A Tribe Called Quest will be performing at the Grammys this weekend, and they’re reportedly one of the artists taking part in the Prince and George Michael tributes. They’re also co-headlining day 3 of NYC’s Panorama festival with Nine Inch Nails.

Earlier today, it was announed that ATCQ would headline the UK’s Bestival with The xx and Pet Shop Boys.
