South Korean post-rock band Jambinai playing SXSW, Coachella & NYC

South Korea’s Jambinai incorporate traditional Korean instruments piri, haegeum, and geomungo into their heavy, post-rock sound making for a very unique sound. The band’s 2016 sophomore album, A Hermitage, was reissued in 2017 by Bella Union, and you may have seen Jambinai playing the closing ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, where they performed with an orchestra of geomungo players. You can watch video of their Olympics performance, and stream their two albums below.

Jambinai are currently working on the follow-up to A Hermitage and will be in the U.S. for a few shows this year. First they’ll head to Austin for SXSW, playing the Korea Spotlight showcase on 3/13 with Chung Ha, XXX, Ikon, Hitchhiker, and Kirara, and the Bella Union Showcase on 3/14 with Lowly, DOOMSQUAD, Pavo Pavo, Two Medicine and EB the Younger. And then they’ll be back in April to play both weekends of Coachella. In between Coachella weekends, they’ll head to NYC for a show at Brooklyn Bowl on April 17 (tickets).

Other 2019 dates for Jambinai include Primavera Sound Porto fest. All dates are listed below.
