Spacehog releasing first new album in 12 years (stream a track), playing NYC tonight and other shows

by Bill Pearis

’90s-era band Spacehog will release, As it Is On Earth, on April 16. It’s the band’s first album in 12 years. Always a little out-of-step with what most of their peers were doing, Spacehog’s theatrical, glam-heavy style has held up pretty well. The new record doesn’t deviate much from the band’s MO, which is just fine. Royston Langdon’s bravado-laden voice is in great shape and the songs are pretty catchy. If you liked them before, this is a welcome return. You can preorder the album through PledgeMusic and stream the slinky first single, “Try to Remember,” below.

You can hear more songs from the album tonight in NYC as Spacehog (whose line-up now includes Timo Ellis) play Mercury Lounge tonight (2/26). Tickets are still available and all tour dates are listed below.

Spacehog – 2013 Tour Dates
Feb 26 Mercury Lounge New York, NY
May 04 Great Scott Allston, MA
