Sparks share new single "Please Don't Fuck Up My World"

sparks

Having just released new best-of compilation Past Tense, the one and only Sparks are back with a brand new single that feels very of the moment. While “Please Don’t Fuck Up My World” doesn’t name names, lyrics like “All that you are pursuing / please don’t fuck up my world / can’t you see what you’re doing” are clearly aimed at the head of state of your choice. Russell and Ron Mael using a children’s choir in the chorus underlines things nicely. Listen to that below.

As for Past Tense, it’s a double-CD / three-LP set that runs their whole career from their early art-glam days, through their new wave ’90s, the FFS record they made with Franz Ferdinand and beyond. (There’s also a deluxe three-CD set with even more.) They also just released a 25th anniversary edition of Gratuitous Sax & Senseless Violins that includes B sides, remixes, live recordings and demos. You can watch a trailers and check out the artwork and tracklists for both of those, below, too.

In other news, the Maels are working on a new Sparks album and filmmaker Edgar Wright has been working for nearly two years on a Sparks documentary. Stay tuned.
