Sparta are back, share new song “Graveyard Luck”
While Jim Ward is not taking part in the current At the Drive In reunion, he did get his post-ATDI band Sparta back together again. Stereogum points out that they just released a new song, “Graveyard Luck,” their first new music since 2012, when a new album was talked about but never came to be. You can hear the new song below.
The current Sparta lineup has Jim Ward joined by longtime member Matt Miller. Guitarist Gabriel Gonzalez, who was briefly a member in the early 2000s, returns to take the place of Keeley Davis, who is Jim Ward’s current replacement in At the Drive In. New drummer Cully Symington replaces Tony Hajjar, who is also fully dedicating his time to At the Drive In. (Sparta’s original lineup also included ATDI’s Paul Hinojos, though he hasn’t been in the band since 2005.)
Sparta have one show coming up, a free hometown show in El Paso at Tricky Falls on 12/16 with Emily Davis and the Murder Police.
