Speedy Ortiz announce 'Foiled Again' EP, share "Death Note"

Speedy Ortiz released one of 2015’s best albums with Foil Deer, an LP of indie rock earworms brimming with clever one-liners courtesy of singer Sadie Dupuis. The band announced the Foiled Again EP today, which is the album’s follow up, billed as an addendum. The digital-only release is out June 3 via Carpark and is composed of four tracks, two of which are outtakes from Foil Deer. The other two are remixes of that album’s track “Puffer,” one by Lazerbeak featuring Lizzo, and one by Open Mike Eagle.

Ahead of the EP’s release, the band has shared “Death Note,” an instant download with the pre-oder. “‘Death Note’ is named after the anime, which is about an evil supernatural notebook that causes the death of anyone whose name is written inside of it,” Dupuis said in a press release. “The song is about writing through your depression as a way to get better, and how in that way a death note can be kind of love letter to yourself.”

Currently, the band is on a North American tour where they’re shareing dates with Hop Along and The Good Life. The run with Hop Along hits the NYC-area on Tuesday (5/10) at Wonder Bar in Asbury Park and Wednesday (5/11) at Warsaw in Brooklyn. Two Inch Astronaut open both of those.
