Spiral Stairs (Pavement) released new LP & "Emoshuns" video, expands tour (2 NYC shows)

Spiral Stairs‘ new album, Doris and The Daggers, is out today (3/24). While his old band Pavement was never much for emotions, this is easily Spiral’s most heart-on-sleeve record — with songs on love, parenthood, death, and other relatable issues — and it’s all the better for it. (It’s also his catchiest batch of songs to date.) Speaking of, the song “Emoshuns” off the album, which features Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew, now has a video, directed by Joe Salinas, which puts him in a highly emotional state: a laundromat. Watch that, and stream the whole album, below.

Scott Kannberg, who is Spiral Stairs, and his band limberered up for touring last week at SXSW, where his sets mixed solo work and a few Pavement songs too. His West Coast tour starts in April, and he’s just announced East Coast Dates for June. NYC gets two shows: June 23 at The Bell House and June 24 at Mercury Lounge. Tickets for both those shows will be on sale soon.
