Spoon celebrated new LP 'Hot Thoughts' with three-show SXSW residency (pics, setlists, LP stream)
Spoon‘s ninth album, Hot Thoughts, is out today (3/17) which finds the band back on Matador Records for the first time since their debut. It find them in fine, feisty form, adding more electronic textures than we normally associate with the band but they still manage to sound only like themselves. You can stream the whole thing below.
The band has been celebrating the new album’s release all week in their hometown of Austin where they just wrapped up a three-night residency at The Main, featuring a slew of up-and-coming acts, surprise big-name undercards (New Pornographers, !!!, Hamilton Leithauser) and a headlining set by Britt Daniel and co. to cap off each night. We caught last night’s finale (3/16) and pictures from Spoon’s set are in the gallery above.
If you’re in Austin and you mised Spoon’s residency at The Main, you’ve got two chances to see them today (3/17): 3 PM at the Convention Center Day Stage (badges only), and then a free show at Waterloo Records at 6 PM. Setlists from all three residency shows are below.
