Spoon played new song as a duo, covered Bowie & Prince in Mexico (video, setlist)

This past weekend Spoon lead singer Britt Daniel and keyboardist Alex Fischel performed for the first time in six months at Festival Marvin in Mexico City. The band debuted a new song as well as played covers as a tribute to the late greats David Bowie and Prince.

The covers included “Under The Cherry Moon” by Prince and “I Can’t Give Everything Away” by David Bowie. Although the usual five-piece group was not all present, the duo still held their own with their intimate set. Check out the show’s full setlist below.

Spoon has not announced a release date for a new album or any upcoming tour dates. Their last album, They Want My Soul, was released in 2014.

Videos of the covers and their new song, along with photos Daniel and Fischel posted from interviews they did in Mexico, are below (via Stereogum).
