Starchild & the New Romantic released new EP on Ghostly (listen), playing Knitting Factory this week

Starchild & the New Romantic @ Baby's All Right
Starchild & the New Romantic @ Baby’s All Right, 2015 (more by Christina Domingues)

You may have seen Bryndon Cook playing in Charilift, or Blood Orange or Solange Knowles’ band, but he also makes music of his own with Starchild & the New Romantic. He cites Prince as his biggest influence, but you can also hear a lot of mid-’80s pop R&B in what he does (Sade, Terrence Trent D’Arby, even Spandau Ballet), not to mention Parliament Funkadelic and ’00s-era chillwave. He’s signed to Ghostly who just released his new EP, Crucial, on which he played every instrument. You can stream it below.

Starchild & the New Romantic will play Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory on Wednesday, April 27 with Elijah Wolf. Tickets are on sale now. Flyer for the show is below.
