Stranger Cat covered "All I Want For Christmas Is You" (listen)

Stranger Cat

One of the latest indie musicians to cover a Christmas classic this holiday season is Stranger Cat (aka Cat Martino), who recorded a rendition of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” She ditched the drum machines and synths that she usually uses in Stranger Cat, in favor of a slightly more organic sound that’s similar to when she used to record under her own name. Here’s some background:

Martino solo recorded the track live with Omnichord, Line 6 Looper and Space Echo, at her label, Joyful Noise Records, office party for a dreamy soulful lo-fi feel to get lost in. The project will have a limited edition run of Lathe cut vinyl with several other live performances by Joyful Noise artists like Jad Fair, Oneida, Mike Adams at HIs Honest Weight, Richard Edwards, Yoni Wolf (Why?), and more.

We’re premiering Stranger Cat’s cover of the song in this post and you can listen below.

Stranger Cat also plays NYC TONIGHT (12/11) at Sunnyvale with Alpenglow, Anna McClellan and Thick Paint. Tickets are available.
