'Stranger Things' renewed for season 3

Stranger Things 2 came out right around Halloween (natch), and the nostalgic, supernatural thriller has officially been renewed for a third season, Netflix announced today. Are you all caught up on season two?

The Emmy-nominated series stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Cara Buono, Matthew Modine, Joe Keery, Dacre Montgomery, Paul Reiser, and those beloved kids Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, and Sadie Sink. Season two brought in former kid actor and current adult actor Sean Astin (who has been in the news for other reasons lately too).

The show is scored by Michael Stein and Kyle Dixon of Relapse-signed synthwavers S U R V I V E, and yes, some of the kids have bands too. Finn Wolfhard’s (Mike) band Calpurnia recently signed to Royal Mountain and they’re working on an EP with Cadien Lake James of the band Twin Peaks. Gaten Matarazzo’s (Dustin) band Work In Progress are playing The Stone Pony in Asbury Park this month. Joe Keery (Steve) doesn’t appear to be a member anymore, but he was in the psych band Post Animal, who toured with Wavves this year and are actually good.
