As mentioned, Mercy Union is the supergroup-ish NJ punk band with The Scandals frontman Jared Hart and The Gaslight Anthem drummer Benny Horowitz (joined by guitarist Rocky Catanese and bassist Nick Jorgensen), and they’re releasing their debut album The Quarry this Friday (10/19) (pre-order). Adding in even more NJ punk star power, Pete Steinkopf of The Bouncing Souls produced the album. It’s cut from a similar cloth as The Scandals and The Gaslight Anthem, with Springsteen-y heartland rock meeting basement punk energy. Jared’s got all the grit in his voice that you need for this kind of thing, and a real knack for classic hooks. Jared tells us:

The Quarry sums up the last ten years of touring, writing, and living. However, it’s the first record I’ve been a part of that isn’t just a still frame of the past. The record leaves a lot of doors and avenues open for the future and I’m most excited for where Mercy Union goes next.

Ahead of the album’s release, we’re premiering a full stream of the album. Check it out below.

Mercy Union have a home state show tonight (10/18), the Crossroads stop of the Red City Radio / Pkew Pkew Pkew tour (which is a pretty awesome bill). The Penske File are opening the show. Tickets are on sale. Their only other upcoming show is The Fest in Gainesville next weekend.
