Mindfield

stream Mindfield's self-titled EP

Jacksonville, FL’s Mindfield cite bands like Merauder, All Out War, and Sepultura as influences, and you can hear all of that on their new self-titled EP, which splits the difference between classic metalcore and classic thrash. The metalcore influence makes Mindfield a little tougher than your average “crossover thrash revival” band, and they’ve got some machine-gun chugs on this EP that sound thunderous enough to shake big festival stages and arenas. And don’t be surprised if it’s not long before these guys get a lot bigger; these three songs nail a balance between the familiar and the new, and the band already sound like pros. Here’s what vocalist Nick Troupe tells us about opener “Terminal Atonement,” the third and final song to be released from this EP:

We wanted to use “Terminal Atonement” as a short and sweet intro to the new EP. Lyrically it’s about people paying for their past and previous horrible acts with their own blood. More specifically using the blood eagle torture method used in Viking times.
