stream Signals Midwest's new EP 'Pin,' catch them on tour soon

Signals Midwest‘s new EP Pin comes out this Friday (8/2) via Lauren Records and on Lost Boy Records in Australia (pre-order). We recently posted the song “Your New Old Apartment,” which features Sincere Engineer, and now we’re premiering a stream of the full EP. The opening title track is a bare-bones piano ballad, which is a different look for this band and they pull it off well, but after that the band launches into the kind of melodic emo/punk that they’ve always done so well. The new EP is a bit rawer sounding than the band’s last album, the Evan Weiss-produced At This Age, and it’s also the first release since the band went through some changes. It’s their first recording with new bassist Ryan Williamson, and the first one since the band members moved and were split between three different cities, Philly, Pittsburgh, and their original hometown of Cleveland. “Everything we do is meticulously planned, very far in advance, and is just for us at this point,” says vocalist/guitarist Max Stern. “Every practice takes so much organization and travel. So we don’t do it as much anymore, but when we are able to make it happen, it feels more meaningful.” Listen to the whole EP below.

The band is also playing shows from late August through October, leading up to their appearance at The Fest. That includes a NYC show on September 12 at Brooklyn Bazaar Cellar with Good Looking Friends and Common Sage (tickets). The band says, “This is likely it for 2019. We live in three different cities, all work full-time or more, and it’s unlikely that we’ll be back in most of these places anytime soon. If you wanna come see us, this is your shot.” All dates are listed below.
