stream Subhumans' "99%" off first album in 12 years

UK anarcho-punk legends Subhumans are releasing their first album in 12 years, Crisis Point, on September 13 via Pirates Press Records (pre-order), and going by new single “99%,” these guys haven’t lost it one bit. They sound as pissed off and vital as ever, and they’re still good at mixing good melodies with a powerful message. Of the new song, frontman Dick Lucas says:

There’s a small percentage of people who need us to keep fighting each other over our differences in opinion, skin tone, gender, class and so on, it keeps us separated and therefore powerless- the one thing that unites 99% of us is that we are living under the exploitative control of the 1%, who own and run the banks, the media and the governments, whose overarching message is that we are free to succeed in life only through unquestioning obedience to a system organised on nothing more than the profit motive. This structure is nothing once we overturn this mindset and start living lives based on tolerance and co-operation, and diminishing the social/mental effect of capitalism’s propaganda. Sure we need money to survive, but not at the expense of our humanity. Fuck economic slavery!

Listen below. “99%” will also appear on a new split 7″ with The Restarts and pre-orders for that will be live soon too.

As mentioned, the band is also touring North America with Fea, including a Brooklyn show on September 10 at The Kingsland. Since we last spoke, two openers were added to that show: Philly’s Soul Glo (who released their ripping new album The N**** In Me Is Me earlier this year) and locals Material Support (who also put out a new ripper this year, the Specter EP). Tickets for this stacked bill are still available. All dates are listed below.
