The Darling Fire

stream The Darling Fire's (ex-Rocking Horse Winner) "The Constant" off debut LP

The Darling Fire is the new band from Jolie Lindholm, who used to front The Rocking Horse Winner and sang on the first two Dashboard Confessional albums, and the band’s lineup also includes Jolie’s former Rocking Horse Winner bandmate Jeronimo Gomez (also of Poison The Well and As Friends Rust), as well as former members of Further Seems Forever, Shai Hulud, Strongarm, and more. Their debut album Dark Celebration was produced by fellow post-hardcore vet J Robbins (of the reunited Jawbox) and it comes out June 14 via Spartan Records (pre-order).

We recently posted lead single “For The Loveless,” and we’re now premiering another song from the LP, “The Constant.” Compared to the fast and driving “For The Loveless,” “The Constant” is more of an atmospheric slow-burner that mixes this band’s strong emo/post-hardcore pedigree with some slight post-rock and dream pop vibes to great effect. About the album and new song, Jolie tells us:

Our individual influences have helped to develop our sound. We actually came together at a time when most of us had recently been through something traumatic and have created this bond that’s kept The Darling Fire going. It’s been hard to keep the recordings under wraps, but we’re prepared for wherever this takes us and we’re planning to hit the road as often as possible, in support of our upcoming release!

“The Constant” is about a protector’s inability to rescue those he’s attempting to save, because they don’t want to be saved – an ineffective hero, who’s left with no choice but to walk away.

Drummer Steve Kleisath (Further Seems Forever, Shai Hulud, Strongarm etc) adds:

This band is a collection of old friends that have caught up personally over the last year and discovered something musically together that we’re so proud of and excited about. We look forward to sharing our recordings and performing them live often, for listeners that may know us from our other groups, as well as new listeners that have discovered us!
