Sturgill Simpson doing intimate benefit tour & NYCC panel; film screening in NYC & LA

Sturgill Simpson‘s new album Sound & Fury (and accompanying Netflix film) comes out this week (9/27) via Elektra, and Sturgill has just announced a tour of intimate venues with 100% of the net proceeds going to Special Forces Foundation, “a non-profit organization that provides immediate and ongoing support to Army Special Forces soldiers, ‘Green Berets,’ and their families.”

The tour includes NYC-area shows at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on October 6 and Asbury Park’s Stone Pony on October 8, and there are also stops in West Hollywood, San Rafael, San Francisco, and DC. Tickets for all dates go on sale Wednesday (9/25) at 10 AM local.

Sturgill is also screening the Sound & Fury film at The ArcLight Cinema in Hollywood, CA on 9/26 and at NYC’s IFC Center on 10/3. The NYC screening and NYC show coincide with New York Comic Con, and there’s also a Sound & Fury comic con panel on October 5 at Javits Center with Sturgill, the filmmakers, and more present. (Sturgill initially announced the album/film at San Diego Comic Con.)
