Sturgill Simpson performed with The Dap Kings horns in tribute to Sharon Jones on the Grammys (watch)

George Michael and Prince were not the only fallen artists to be paid tribute to on the Grammys tonight. Sharon Jones was given a nice tribute tonight via Sturgill Simpson‘s performance which featured The Dap Kings horn section, and by the intro from Dwight Yoakam. “There are only two kinds of music: the good kind and the other kind,” said Dwight. “We all assume we’re in the former, but Sharon Jones made the good kind. She made good music with the Dap Kings that will means that she’ll never be forgotten.” Which then led into Sturgill and The Dap Kings playing “All Around You.” You can watch that below.

Sturgill’s A Sailor’s Guide to Earth won Best Country Album in the pre-telecast awards ceremony, and he’s up for Album of the Year, where he faces stiff competition from Beyonce, Adele, Drake and Justin Beiber. It’s just nice to be nominated, right? Sturgill plays Radio City Music Hall on his fall tour.
