SubRosa, Mortals & Pilgrim @ Saint Vitus (pics, video)

Salt Lake City’s SubRosa released one of the best metal albums of last year with For This We Fought the Battle of Ages. It’s chock full of crushing doom riffs, but it’s also got gorgeous clean singing and electric violin from co-leaders Sarah Pendleton and Kim Pack. If there’s a middle ground between Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull and Fairport Convention, it’s that album.

SubRosa came to NYC for a one-off at Saint Vitus on Saturday (3/4) in continued support of the album. Opening the show was two very solid bands: Mortals and Pilgrim. Pictures of all three are in the gallery above. Check out a full-set video of SubRosa and partial-set videos of the openers (by Frank Huang aka Max Volume Silence) below.

Pilgrim also play the upcoming Invisible Oranges/No Clean Singing-presented Northwest Terror Fest, which expanded its lineup today.
