Sufjan Stevens & more played 'Live From Here w/ Chris Thile' (pics, full audio)

Chris Thile‘s Minnesota Public Radio show Live From Here (fka A Prairie Home Companion) is broadcasting live from NYC’s Town Hall this month, and the April 21 edition had live performances from Sufjan Stevens, Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith, comedian Colin Quinn, and pianist Jonathan Bliss, with Gaby Moreno as Chris’s duet partner. Sufjan performed “Tonya Harding” near the top of the show, and came back later in the show for “Heirloom” (off 2010’s All Delighted People), and “Visions of Gideon” and “Mystery of Love” both of which are from the Call Me By Your Name soundtrack (and Mystery of Love EP).

Elsewhere on the show, they poked fun at high-concept compilations with “breathy acoustic covers of disco songs” and paid tribute to a few musicians’ birthdays (Dusty Springfield, Theo Katzman and Joe Dart, Ira Louvin and Michael Davies, and Selena), plus the show’s song of the week (“Au Revoir, Rue St. Denis! with Gaby Moreno) and more. You can listen to the whole show here, and watch video of “breathy acoustic covers,” the birthday tribute and the song of the week, below.

This Saturday (4/28) at Town Hall, Chis welcomes Calexico, Meshell Ndegeocello, Mike Yard, and duet partner Sarah Jarosz (tickets)
