Welsh wonders Super Furry Animals brought their tour to NYC on Thursday night (7/21) at Webster Hall. With no new album to support, SFA reached back a little further than usual, peppering their set with some deep cuts I haven’t heard them play in a long time, like “Ice Hockey Hair,” “God! Show Me Magic” (which frontman Gruff Rhys noted was 20 years old) and “If You Don’t Want Me to Destroy You.” We also got lots of faves, like “Golden Retriever,” “Receptacle for the Respectable,” “(Drawing) Rings Around the World,” plus terrific new single “Bing Bong” and the night ended with the more-relevant-than-ever “The Man Don’t Give a Fuck.” As always, great show. Setlist is below.

Chris Forsyth and the Solar Motel Band opened the night. Pics from their set, and more from SFA, in the gallery above.
