Superchunk celebrated 'What A Time to Be Alive' at Rough Trade (pics, setlist)

Superchunk celebrated the release of the terrific new album, What A Time to Be Alive, with an 7 PM in-store performance at Brooklyn’s Rough Trade on Friday (2/16). Frontman Mac MaCaughan joked that they liked playing early ’cause they’re old, but you’d never know it from the nonstop energy of their set. They played about half the album, plus a handful of older favorites like “Driveway to Driveway” and “Animated Airplanes Over Germany.” The closed with early single “Fishing” that had Mac and drummer Jon Wurster switching places and, as they’ve done before, working in some of Black Flag’s “My War” into the middle. After the show they signed copies of the new album. Pictures from the show are in this post.

The band will be back in NYC when their tour with Swearin’ hits Bowery Ballroom for two sold-out shows in April.
