Tacocat announce first LP for Sub Pop and tour, share "Grains of Salt" video

Seattle band Tacocat will release This Mess is a Place, their fourth album, on May 3. It’s their first for Sub Pop, after records on sister label Hardly Art, and producer Erik Blood helped the band achieve a more pop sound than they’ve tried before. First single “Grains of Salt” has an early-’90s guitar pop vibe, light and bouncing. Says singer Emily Nokes , “This song is for roller skating, friendship, self friendship, yes and no doubt, turning it off, running up and down that hill, leaving gross stuff behind, landing the backflip, imposter syndrome, being your own genie, and remembering who the fuck you are.” The video, directed by Claire Buss, features Seattle’s drag community and you can watch that below.

Tacocat will head out on an extensive, 28-date North American tour right after their album drops that includes a Brooklyn stop at Music Hall of Williamsburg on May 17. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday, February 15 at 10 AM. All tour dates are listed below.
