Mugison? I'm not sure how I feel about that (Icelandic) guy.

Today we have an exclusive new mixtape from LA duo Classixx. We first saw these guys dj last summer in LA when they were known as Young Americans. We aren't sure of the legal reasoning, but they had to switch it up and become their latest moniker (which we feel is a million times better anyway).
Since then they have released a slew of originals and remixes. Our favorites are their remix of group Hellogoodbye and their own banger Cold Act Ill. You may have also heard the remixes they've done for TV On the Radio, Regina Spektor, and Imogen Heap. We are happy to be bringing them out for their NYC debut this Friday (April 4) at Hugs with Alan Astor. The show is free so you have no reason to blow it of... unless your excuse is just that you're catching them the next night because they're playing again at Hugs on Saturday too.
Grab the tracks above. Check out more tour dates below...

Byran Buchman draws bands as robots. That's his work above. A bigger version of the picture is posted on his site.
Two new Professor Murder MP3s recently appeared. The first, the "Chinzuki Riddim Version" of That's How They Getcha is linked on the top of this post. The second, a remix of Free Stress Test, is available at Stereogum.
A second remix of Free Stress Test is also available here. (that makes three remixes total)

That's right, we came to party. Street by street, block by block

THAT'S ALAN ASTOR ON SAX

It was hotter than a Sleater Kinney concert at Webster Hall during a heat wave down in the packed basement of Cake Shop on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in NYC last night (Aug 3, 2006), but that didn't stop the dance party.

ISLANDS @ ACADEMY CLUB, MONTREAL | OCT 1, 2005

Islands, feauturing ex-Unicorns, played twice during the 2005 Pop Montreal festival. They opened for Beck, and they headlined their own Saturday night showcase at Academy Club. I went to the Academy Club show, but I had to drive back to NYC the next morning so I left before they went on (2 AM I think) (I saw openers Alan Astor & Holy Fuck though).
"Islands mixed folk with indie rock. 7 musicians were giving all they had, despite the overwhelming heat. Subtitle and Busdriver did a tag team collabo during one of their songs. The quick flow and rapid tempo worked really well. It was the highlight of the night and put a grin on my face." ['insert clever name' was at the Academy show]
* There's no date in his post, so I'm not clear which of the two shows You Ain't No Picasso posted as MP3s for download.
* Said the Gramophone (who posted a studio MP3) said Islands was the best show he saw at Pop Montreal (also not sure which one he was at).
* Jim Guthrie played with Islands.
