LA producer Kastle has some tour dates coming up this year, including appearances in Austin for SXSW and The Do LaB stage at Coachella. Modeselektor at Coachella 2012 (more by David Andrako)
As mentioned, NYC electronic festival Electric Zoo is returning to the recently restored (after Governors Ball damage) Randall's Island from August 30 to September 1. Though much of the lineup is stuff you probably want to stay away from (like Benny Benassi, Tiesto, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, etc), there's also a handful of people worth seeing, including Four Tet, Moderat, Bondax, A-Trak, Diplo, Baauer, AraabMuzik, Skream, Cyril Hahn, RL Grime, Just Blaze, Joy Orbison, and Scuba. Tickets (3-day passes and single day passes) are on sale now. Full lineup at the festival's site.
There have also been a number of official afterparties announced. There's one at Williamsburg's new danceclub hot spot Output each night of the fest. The two biggest standouts are Modeselektor and Rudimental DJing Best Buy Theater on August 31 with Delta Heavy (tickets), and Chicago house vet Cajmere (who also plays Warm Up that weekend) at Cielo on August 30 (tickets).
Moderat (aka Modeselektor and Apparat) finally released their second album, Moderat II, this month, and you can stream the whole thing via a Spotify widget below.
For UK duo Bondax, Electric Zoo and Chicago's North Coast Festival (which a bunch of other Electric Zoo artists also play) are their only two North American gigs at the moment, after they recently cancelled their appearances at Warm Up and Camp Bisco, which they would have played in July. Check out their recent single, "Giving It All," below, or download it above.
The PMR-signed Cyril Hahn will also return to NYC when his tour with Ryan Hemsworth hits 88 Palace on October 5.

Polyphonc Spree in Rocky Horror mode / Deap Vally @ Bonnaroo 6/13/13
The absolute highlight of Thursday night for me was the Polyphonic Spree and their rendition of Rocky Horror Picture Show. With just a jump to the left and a step to the right, Tim DeLaughter in his fishnets and ruby red lips belted out with near perfection every Dr. Frank-N-Furter song. Vocally it was pretty impressive how each member of the Spree took on their RHPS role and sounded almost identical to the original recording. This was only the group's second US performance of RHPS live and it was a real treat to be a part of and doing the "Time Warp" in an air conditioned tent was splendid! - [Greatful Web]Bonnaroo 2013 is certainly quite a bit to take in a single weekend, with all of the many different bands/perspecives going around. We already posted pictures from the big headliners, but here's another perspective from the massive Tennesee festival. Day 1 (6/13) also featured acts like Purity Ring, Johnny Fritz (who appears a little banged up here), Araabmuzik, Deap Vally and even The Polyphonic Spree performing The Rocky Horror Picture show.

The Soft Moon made a video for "Want," which is on their Zeroes album from last year. The somewhat NSFW clip pairs well with the paranoid, claustrophobic vibe of the song. You can watch it below.
It took a couple days longer than expected, but Araabmuzik's epic music video for "The Prince is Coming" has finally come. It tells the story of the MPC (his instrument of choice) in a Game of Thrones style. The track is from his new mixtape, For Professional Use Only, and you can watch it below. He's also just released a new track called "Motion Picture" and you can stream that below too.
Meanwhile, tickets are still available for Araabmuzik's April 10 NYC show at a yet-to-be-revealed location.

"Main attraction of the night @araabmuzik @spinmagazine #cmj event CRAY!" - Amia Serrano
Chromeo @ DCTV Firehouse, 10/18/2012
It was a night for dancing not posing, but Chromeo's David "Dave 1" Macklovitch couldn't resist during the duo's DJ set at SPIN's CMJ party (brought to you by Red Diamond Wine, CABO Wabo®, Tito's Handmade Vodka, and JBL) on Wednesday night at the DCTV Firehouse in New York's Chinatown. So, just before theatrically dropping a beat and transitioning out of Moodymann's "Freeki Mutha F cker (All I Need Is U)," Dave 1, wearing his customary suit jacket, tight jeans, and hi-top poof of black curls, turned to the sidestage area and flashed his best glossy, flossy smile for a photographer, who was so tickled upon getting the shot that he ditched his camera soon thereafter to dance to a remix of the remix of Chief Keef's "I Don't Like." [SPIN]SPIN threw a CMJ party at DCTV Firehouse in Chinatown on Thursday (10/18) with DJ sets by Chromeo (who DJed a few other shows last week), Araabmuzik and MNDR. More pictures from the party are below.
Long-running hip hop producer Swizz Beatz, who has worked with Jay-Z, T.I., Busta Rhymes and many others, has been named the Global Ambassador for New York City Health and Hospitals (via Black Celebrity Giving). He'll be formally presented as the new Global Ambassador at a fundraiser at Mural Pavillion at Harlem Hospital Center on Thursday (9/27) at 7 PM. Executive director Joe Shick said Swizz "is committed to using his creativity, his innovation, and his international stature to help spread the HHC message on a global scale to promote better health in our city and our world."
Swizz Beatz will also be performing at a Bud Light Lime-presented 'End of Summer' party at Beekman Beer Garden on Saturday (9/29) with Araabmuzik, Jermaine Dupri, and DJ Kiss. Admission is free but RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org is required.
This Saturday's party is Araabmuzik's last show before he kicks off his tour with Sleigh Bells, which begins at Port Chester's Capitol Theater on October 5. Tickets for that show are still available. All Araabmuzik dates are listed below.
In related news, Megaupload, which was shut down earlier this year and which Swizz Beatz was involved in, is allegedly on its way back. Kim Dotcom, who launched the site, recently tweeted, "Quick update on the new Mega: Code 90% done. Servers on the way. Lawyers, Partners & Investors ready. Be patient. It's coming." He followed that with multiple tweets, saying, "Dear Megaupload friends please RT to tell @BarackObama & @MittRomney that you want #InternetFreedom and #Megaupload back." Though "the new Mega" may also be in reference to Kim's new Megabox music service, which he just posted a trailer video for today (9/26). You can watch that video below.
Pictureplane and Grimes at 285 Kent in July (photo by Erez Avissar)
Pictureplane, who recently played 285 Kent with Grimes (who was DJing) and surprise guests A$AP Rocky and AraabMuzik, will be playing a few shows this September, including another at 285 Kent on September 17 with Dog Leather (aka Sewn Leather and DJ Dog Dick), Debbie DJs Dallas, and Yellow Tears DJs. No advance tickets for this one at the moment ($10 at the door). Pictureplane and DJ Dog Dick will then team up again later in the month for a 'collab noise set' at MoMA PS1 on September 29 for the New York Art Book Fair. It starts at 3 PM, is all ages and totally free to the public.
Speaking of AraabMuzik, he plays an Electric Zoo (which goes down on Randall's Island this weekend [8/31-9/2]) afterparty at Best Buy Theater on Friday (8/31) with Zeds Dead, Netsky, Dynamite and 12th Planet. Tickets for that party are on sale now. About a month later, he'll kick off a tour with Sleigh Bells which hits the NYC area on October 10 at the Capitol Theater (tickets).
No word yet on whether or not Pictureplane will expand his few announced shows into a larger tour, but a list of all currently known dates and a video of Pictureplane on stage at 285 Kent with Grimes, A$AP Rocky, and AraabMuzik are below.
East River Park Summerstage in 2010 (more by Andrew St. Clair)
Free Summerstage shows at East River Park are underway and will be going down throughout this week and next. As mentioned, tonight (8/19), UCB Comedy will be presenting The All-Stars of Improv with two acts of improvised comedy from various performers. Tonight's show starts at 7 PM just after the Jamaica 50th Independence Day celebration is wrapping up farther uptown at Central Park Summerstage.
Other shows at East River Park include the previously discussed Red Bull Music Academy co-presented show with Araabmuzik, Flosstradamus, Teengirl Fantasy, and Nick Hook on Monday (8/20), the previously discussed Lyricist Lounge 20th Anniversary show on Wednesday (8/22) with DJ Premier vs. Pete Rock, and the Two Boots 25th Anniversary show on Thursday (8/23) with Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars, Mamarazzi, Odetta Hartman, Himalayas, and The Whiskeyhickon Boys. That show will be hosted by Luis Guzman, will feature poetry from Nuyorican Poet's Café: Caroline Rothstein, Mahogany Browne, and Marshall "Soulful" Jones, and performance art from Lady Circus and the Magic Beans, Free Art Society, and 4Heads Art Collective, plus free pizza.
An updated East River Park schedule is below...
Sleigh Bells at Terminal 5 in February (more by Chris La Putt)
Sleigh Bells, who have toured this year with a number of interesting openers, including Liturgy and Diplo, Black Bananas, Javelin, Elite Gymnastics, and others, have just announced another tour, and this time support comes from hip hop producer Araabmuzik. That tour hits the NYC area for a show at the newly renovated Port Chester venue Capitol Theater on October 5. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (8/17) at 11 AM. All tour dates are listed below.
Meanwhile, you can catch Araabmuzik in NYC even sooner at the free East River Park show on Monday (8/20) with a stacked lineup of Teengirl Fantasy, Flosstradamus, and Nick Hook (of Cubic Zirconia).
A list of all dates, the tour flier, and videos from both artists are below.

DOWNLOAD: Hundred Waters - "Thistle" (TOKiMONSTA Remix) (MP3)
After recently finishing up the Full Flex Express Tour with Skrillex, Diplo, Grimes, and others, art pop group Hundred Waters announced that they signed to Skrillex's label, OWSLA, and that their first release for the label will be the Thistle EP (due out 8/21). The EP features remixes of the track "Thistle" from their excellent self titled debut LP by Araabmuzik, Star Slinger, TOKiMONSTA, Lockah, Different Sleep, and Troublemaker. Our first taste of that EP comes today (via P4K) with a remix of the track by TOKiMONSTA (who was also on the Full Flex Express Tour). It's a great listen and hearing how natural Hundred Waters sounds with screwed vocals and heavy beats makes it a little less wtf that they signed to Skrillex's label. You can download the remix above and check out a trailer for the EP below. If you haven't heard their LP yet, you can stream it in full below.
Since we last spoke, Moon Diagrams (aka Deerhunter drummer Moses Archuleta) was added to that Bowery Ballroom show too. Moon Diagrams will also be supporting a number of dates on Ariel Pink's upcoming tour, but not the NYC show at Webster Hall (9/14) with Bodyguard and TEEN (tickets).
A list of all Moon Diagrams dates and the Hundred Waters stream and video are below.

Araabmuzik at Pitchfork Fest 2012 (more by James Richards IV)
Summerstage hooked up with Red Bull Music Academy to add a last minute (and really great) show to their 2012 schedule. On August 20 at East River Park they'll be presenting a free show with Araabmuzik, Flosstradamus, Teengirl Fantasy, and Nick Hook (of Cubic Zirconia). The show goes from 6 to 9 PM.
You may remember that Araabmuzik was supposed to play a Summerstage show back in June but cancelled. Hopefully everything goes as planned for this one. Araabmuzik just lent his production to Azealia Banks for her new song, "Succubi," which you can stream below.
For Teengirl Fantasy, the show is part of a tour they're on now and happens three days before the album release party for their new record, Tracer, aboard a Rocks Off Cruise (8/23) with Lemonade (tickets). Tracer drops next week (8/21), but NPR is streaming it in full a week ahead of its release. As mentioned, four of the ten tracks feature guest vocals (from Kelela, Panda Bear, Laurel Halo, and Romanthanony [the voice of Daft Punk's "One More Time"]) and those are balanced out by some pretty great instrumentals. The whole thing is really cohesive and has more of an album flow than their debut. Check it out for yourself.
All lists of updated dates and the new Azealia Banks song are below...
The Treasure Island Music Festival returns to San Francisco on October 13 and 14, featuring an impressive line-up including The xx, M83, Joanna Newsom, Grimes, Public Enemy, SBTRKT, Divine Fits (who just played their first-ever show last night), Ty Segall, The War on Drugs, Youth Lagoon Toro y Moi, Best Coast and more. Tickets are on sale now in both individual day or 2-day packages.
The full Treasure Island Fest line-up is below.
Vampire Weekend/Ty Segall/Araabmuzik crowd - Pitchfork Fest 2012
Thank god for the Chicago Transit Authority. Several "cooling stations" (city buses) that provided respite from the onslaught of heat and humidity at the third day of Pitchfork 2012 in Chicago's Union Park (7/15), a weather pattern which replaced the previous days' periodic downpours. The heat, combined with squirt guns & bikini tops, helped create the perfect setting for performances from the sunny tennis-sweater rock of Vampire Weekend and dream pop of the oh-so-aptly named Beach House.
Random thoughts on the day: Personal highlights for me included a stretch of bands that were unfortunately all clustered across the three stages in the afternoon: Milk Music, Iceage, The Men, Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees and Chavez. From catching moments of Kendrick Lamar on the Blue Stage, it was proven to me that he's an excellent live performer, a sentiment clearly echoed by Lady Gaga (who looked on during his set). Onohtrix Point Never's material is compelling, but doesnt fit well on an outdoor festival stage. And it's confirmed, this reviewer still detests Vampire Weekend.
Vampire Weekend uber-fans
Pictures from the third and final day of Pitchfork 2012 are below, including pictures of all bands mentioned above, as well as King Krule, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Araabmuzik, and The Field. If you didnt make it to Chicago, maybe you streamed it? If you haven't been keeping up with our coverage, make sure to check out pictures from day one (one set HERE, another HERE) and day two (HERE and HERE) along with video from the festival to complete your desktop Pitchfork Festival experience. Hopefully from an ice cold room.
shittychandelier with a pitchfork
If the many artists playing the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago this weekend, only a few will be part of the webcast on Pitchfork's Youtube Channel. Check out the schedule (in Chicago time I assume), and the stream itself, below...
After teasing folks with a few names here and there -- like Run DMC most recently -- Austin's annual Fun Fun Fun Fest (Nov 2 - 4) has revealed it's full line-up, including Public Image Ltd, De La Soul, Superchunk, Santigold, Refused, X peforming Los Angeles, and lots, lots more. 3-day passes go on sale at 10AM CST.
Full FFF Fest lineup is below.
7:32pm Metric wrapped up a touch early; partly because one new song ("Lost Kitten") was stopped 10 seconds into it and Emily decided to strike it from the set. Aside from that odd error, Metric played a fair set. They cited the show as their "public debut" of Synthetica and they did play mostly new material (7 out of 11 songs), most of which sounds promising. It's always hard to judge new material accurately as the audience doesn't know it so it always comes across slightly weak or stiff. Metric opened their set with newbie "Artificial Nocturne" (also the album's opener). It was one of the stronger new tracks. The other stand outs were "Youth Without Youth" (when played live it seemed to lose it's sluggishness of it's studio version) and "Nothing But Time", a synth/piano number that builds each verse until drums kick in and the song finishes with a flourish of Emily Haines' Pro-One synth. The band closed with an acoustic version "Gimme Sympathy" that had pretty much the entire amphitheater singing along. [The Province]Here's more pictures from the super-stacked Saturday (5/26) line-up of the Sasquatch Music Festival which happened Memorial Day Weekend in Gorge, Washington -- including Metric, St. Vincent, The Shins, Dum Dum Girls, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Couer de Pirate, Sol, Com Truise and more. The first set from Saturday (5/26) are HERE and Friday (5/25) are HERE. More from Day 2 below and still more Sasquatch pics to come.
Lindstrom will be releasing a 12" of remixes from his Six Cups of Rebel LP on June 25 with remixes from Oneohtrix Point Never (who plays Ecstatic Summer), Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, and Mark McGuire (of Emeralds). Have a listen to Oneohtrix Point Never's take on "Call Me Anytime" below.
Lindstrom is currently on a tour which brings him to NYC on Friday (5/25) for the previously discussed Webster Hall show with Simian Mobile Disco (tickets). That tour will also bring him to Detroit's Movement Electronic Music Festival this weekend where he'll play alongside Public Enemy, Actress, SBTRKT, Major Lazer, Gold Panda, Nina Kraviz, Matias Aguayo, FaltyDL, AraabMUZIK and more. Tickets for the fest are on sale now. The full lineup is listed below.
Speaking of electronic music festivals, Mutek goes down in Montreal from May 30 - June 3. The Mutek lineup includes Kode9, Nicolas Jaar, Clark, Blondes, Apparat, Shlohmo, Shackleton, Stephen O'Malley & Tim Hecker, Biosphere & Lustmord, and more. The full lineup is listed below.
In related news, as mentioned, Apparat will come to NYC after Mutek for a show at Gramercy Theater on May 31. It's since been announced that Sleepyhead will open that show. Tickets for that show are still available and we're also giving away a pair. Contest details below, along with a list of all dates, song stream, and those festival lineups.
