A$AP Rocky and friends modeling his Guess line
We are in the midst of New York Fashion Week 2016, the glitziest time of year in the city. In addition to all the fashion shows, there are tons of parties, many of them with a music theme. Kanye West is throwing a big one at Madison Square Garden on Thursday (2/11) which will double as a premiere party for his new album. Tickets are still available.
Most of these NYFW parties, however, are much smaller and invite-only. But that never stops people from trying to scam their way in, though. For example, A$AP Rocky will celebrate his new limited-edition Guess Originals collection with a party at Lower East Side club The Box on Thursday. He'll perform, as will A$AP Twelvyy, Playboi Carti and Cozy Boys. Rocky's Guess Originals collection will be officially be available next week (you can order online now though), and for his line the familiar GUESS logo becomes GUE$$. He talked to The Hollywood Reporter about it:
I actually looked into the archives just to see what was available and after that my main focus was silhouettes and reconfigurations, because I didn't want it to fit exactly like those jeans back then, when they were so big and baggy. I wanted to give kids today knowledge of what Guess meant to Hip Hop and the urban community in the nineties and late eighties. From the drug dealer on the corner with the t-shirt, the rapper Nas saying 'When I get dressed, it's nothing less than Guess' and Tupac in the movie JuiceElsewhere this Fashion Week...
There's a NYFW tribute to David Bowie happening at Electric Room below Dream Downtown on Friday (2/12). The band is made up of fashion people (Michael H, Andy Hilfiger, etc), but they're promising appearances by drummer Sterling Campbell (B-52's) and Earl Slick and others. Invite only.
Ra Ra Riot will perform at Gramercy Hotel's Rose Bar on Wednesday, February 17. Also invite only but they do play Webster Hall next month.
Kendrick Lamar at ACL Fest 2013 (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
The 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards cypher aired last night (10/15) and featured cyphers from TDE (Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul and new signee Isaiah Rashad), A$AP Mob (Rocky, Ferg, Twelvy, Nast, and Ant), Lil Kim & Action Bronson, Bone Thugs N Harmony, and more. As you may have heard, Kendrick's verse in the TDE cypher included a much-talked-about diss at Drake. You can read his entire verse (via Complex) and watch videos of the above-mentioned cyphers, below.
Meanwhile, Schoolboy Q and A$AP Mob (Ant, Twelvy, and Nast) are teaming up for a NYC show together TONIGHT (10/16) at Webster Hall as part of CMJ. The show also includes TDE's new signee Isaiah Rashad, in addition to former Odd Future associate Casey Veggies, young Brooklyn rapper Bishop Nehru (who has opened for more than one Black Hippy member in NYC), and The Bots. Tickets for tonight's show are still available, and you can also try to get in with your CMJ badge.

A$AP Rocky at FFF Fest 2012 (more by Tim Griffin)
A$AP Rocky is teaming up with fellow A$AP Mob member, A$AP Ferg, in addition to Bodega Bamz, 4th Pyramid, and DJ Getlive! for a Scion A/V-presented NYC show on February 20 at Public Assembly. The only way to get in is to enter Scion's contest via Twitter or Instagram. Instructions on how to do so are below and more info is HERE.
Though entering the contest obviously won't guarantee admission and Rocky plays NYC a lot, the show is pretty exciting in that it's an intimate one for him before heading out on tour with Rihanna, and it's his first NYC show since the release of his new album, Long. Live. A$AP. As someone who's been a pretty big naysayer of A$AP Rocky's previous work (sorry, "Purple Swag"), the new album finally won me over as a fan. He raps more confidently than in the past, the songs are catchier, and production from Hit-Boy, 40, T-Minus, Clams Casino, Danger Mouse... and Skrillex (because, why not?) doesn't hurt. Neither do guests verses from everyone. If you haven't heard it yet, you can stream the album below.
Another A$AP Mob member, A$AP Twelvy is also teaming up with Bodega Bamz for their own show on March 6 at Santos Party House. Tickets for that one are on sale now.
An updated list of dates , that album stream, and contest details for the Scion A/V show below...
Spongebob and Papa Smurf will be flying through Manhattan today.
A$AP Twelvyy was supposed to play Highline Ballroom tonight, but that show has been postponed to December 27. All tickets will be honored.

Tomorrow, Black Friday is also Record Store Day.
Thanksgiving isn't as exciting a time of year for songs as Christmas, but we've gotten a few gems this year, like The National's cover of "Thanksgiving Song" and the amazing Nicole Westbrook's "It's Thanksgiving," which you can watch the video for below.

A$AP Mob at Roseland Ballroom in September (more by Brook Bobbins)
A$AP Twelvy is currently on tour with Rocky and the rest of the A$AP Mob, but upon returning home, he'll headline his show in NYC on November 22 at HIghline Ballroom, billed as "A$AP Twelvy & Friends." Tickets for that show go on sale today (10/12) at noon.
Meanwhile, that tour had a short break this week during which soccer video game commercial star A$AP Rocky briefly returned home to NYC, and while he was here, he and Gucci Mane came out as guests at Waka Flocka Flame's Irving Plaza show, which went down this past Tuesday (10/9). You can check out a video of that below. Rocky comes out around 6:03 and in typical Rocky-making-a-surprise-appearance fashion, pretty much blows up the stage at that point.
The short break in the A$AP tour ended last night (10/11) when the mob (and Schoolboy Q and Danny Brown) hit Chicago's Congress Theater and it continues tonight (10/12) in Milwaukee. Pics from the NYC stop at Roseland Ballroom are HERE.
It's too bad that Rocky will be too busy in Salt Lake City to make another trip home for the Flatbush Zombies show at Santos (10/17) during CMJ.
Speaking of hip hop shows at the Highline, Curren$y's Jet Life crew is doing a record release party for Jet Life World Order 2 at Highline Ballroom on November 20, two days before the A$AP Twelvy show. The exact lineup of who will be performing at this show has not been announced yet, other than "special invited guests." Tickets for the show go on sale today (10/12) at noon. Jet Life World Order 2 drops the same day as the release show (11/20) via iHipHop Distribution/Jets International and you can stream the first single, "No Sleep" (feat. feat. Trademark Da Skydiver, Young Roddy & Curren$y), below. The album will also feature Smoke DZA and others. That's the cover art above.
