Hop Along at BV-CMJ 2013 (more by Amanda Hatfield)
Hop Along

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows, but here are some highlights...

Hop Along, Swearin', Great Thunder @ Saint Vitus (BV/Shiner-presents)
We're thrilled to team up with Shiner and Transmission Events to present this show with three exciting bands currently from (or at one point tied to) the Philly indie rock scene. The always-fun Hop Along headline, preceded by Swearin' who do justice to '90s-style indie rock, and Great Thunder, the side project of Katie Crutchfield (Waxahatchee) and Keith Spencer (Swearin'). It was free with RSVP (which is now closed), but if you got tickets, hope to see you there! UPDATE: RSVP IS BACK OPEN.

Sebadoh, Octagrape @ Mercury Lounge
Though Lou Barlow is often busy playing bass Dinosaur Jr. these days, he still leaves plenty of time for the band he fronts, Sebadoh, who made some of the best indie rock of the '90s. This is their first of two NYC shows this week, both sold out.

MV & EE @ Baby's All Right
Psychedelic duo MV & EE wrap up their residency at Baby's All Right tonight with two sets, both FREE, and both with special guests.

Ask Me Another w/ Mike Birbligia @ The Bell House
For tonight's edition of the NPR/WNYC-presented 'Ask Me Another' show, the "rambunctious hour that blends brainteasers and local pub trivia night with comedy and music," which tapes live at The Bell House, they've got the very funny Mike Birbiglia as their VIP guest. Sold out.

Ratking, Infinity Shred, Hefna Gwap @ Glasslands
NYC alt-rap trio Ratking just opened Earl Sweatshirt's two sold out NYC shows this past week, and tonight you can see them headline their own show in a smaller venue.

For all of tonight's shows, and tomorrow's, check out our NYC concert calendar.

Drake at Made In America 2012 (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
Drake
Jacco Gardner at Mercury Lounge in March (more by PSquared)
Jacco Gardner

Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows. Here are some highlights...

Drake, Miguel, Future @ Barclays Center
Love him or hate him, Drake has put out two of the most memorable singles of the year, "Started from the Bottom" and "Hold On, We're Going Home," both of which appear on his newest studio album, Nothing Was the Same (out now), and should sound pretty great in a big arena. If you're going, don't miss R&B singer Miguel either.

Jacco Gardner, Alex Bleeker & The Freaks, Celestial Shore @ Death By Audio
The Dutch '60s psych/baroque pop-inspired Jacco Gardner just did a number of NYC shows during CMJ, including one of our own, and he's got one more in him before he heads back home. Tonight he teams with Real Estate side project Alex Bleeker & the Freaks who are bluesier and psychier than Alex's main band, and Brooklyn's mathy indie pop band Celestial Shore.

Crystal Antlers, PUP, Vasillus @ Glasslands
Long Beach's Crystal Antlers and Toronto's PUP are both bands who seriously know how to rock out, so fans of loud, sweaty, guitar-heavy shows may not want to miss this. The Dirty Nil were supposed to be on this show but dropped off.

Willis Earl Beal, CharlieRED, YC The Cynic, Kiah Victoria @ Knitting Factory
Willis Earl Beal just blessed NYC with his memorable brand of blues during CMJ, and tonight he does it again for this Red Bull Sound Select show.

Of Montreal, La Luz @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
of Montreal released the somewhat back-to-basics (for them) lousy with sylvianbriar this year and are here for two shows at MHOW, this being the second. Seattle's surfy La Luz are definitely not to miss either.

Sparks @ Webster Hall
Russell and Ron Mael have been making boundary breaking pop as Sparks for over 40 years. They're back in town with their "Two Hands, One Mouth" tour where they strip down their 40-year catalog to just keybords and voice. Tickets are still available

Lee Ranaldo @ Other Music
Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo has been keeping active with his band Lee Ranaldo & the Dust, who just released an album, opened for Kurt Vile in NYC, and have many more dates including their own NYC show this January. Tonight, Lee takes a break from the band to host a guitar clinic at NYC record store Other Music, where you can go and learn a few tricks from one of the city's masters of the instrument.

Thomas Dolby @ Gramercy Theatre
Thomas Dolby is a lot more than the guy behind "She Blinded Me with Science," and tonight he'll demonstrate one of the reasons why with his interactive, technologically-advanced concert. And yes, the show does work in his best known song (along with his other well-known tunes).

Brandon Seabrook, Elliot Sharp, Nels Cline, Split Red, Zevioius @ The Grand Victory
Avant-garde composer/musician Eliot Sharp and guitar great Nels Cline teamed up earlier this month to perform as a duo during Elliot's residency at The Stone, and tonight they bring in jazz musician Brandon Seabrook to do it as a trio at The Grand Victory.

Ask Me Another Halloween Spectacular w/ R.L. Stein @ The Bell House
NPR and WNYC's 'Ask Me Another' show, which tapes live at The Bell House, is doing a Halloween Spectacular today, and for the occasion they've got Goosebumps author R.L. Stein as the special guest.

Night Train w/ Wyatt Cenac @ Littlefield
Wyatt Cenac does his weekly Night Train comedy show at Littlefield with guests Jessi Klein, Larry Murphy, Sam Morril, Phoebe Robinson, Jason Burke, and more.

For all of tonight's shows, and tomorrow's, check out our full NYC show calendar.

One Christmas At A Time

Jonathan Coulton and past collaborator/tourmate John Roderick (of The Long Winters) released a Christmas album, One Christmas At A Time, together with ten original Christmas songs by the two musicians ("actually one of them is a Chanukah song, so OK, nine"). Listen to two tracks from the holiday release below.

They'll support the release with another tour together this fall which brings them to NYC on December 14 at City Winery. Tickets for that show are on sale now. All tour dates are listed below.

Jonathan Coulton is also the house musician on NPR/WNYC puzzle show Ask Me Another which tapes live at The Bell House in Brooklyn . The shows are hosted by Ophira Eisenberg and tickets are on sale for five upcoming dates, all also listed below...
