Badly Drawn Boy

"...I ventured to Bleecker Street to the sit down and listen venue once known as [The Village Gate on Friday night]. Badly Drawn Boy and/or his advisors made an awesome choice in booking him there. While it is never fun to sit with six other strangers while popping tater tots, the semi quite audience allowed an intimate exchange between artist and audience.

One table mate commented at the start of the show "I hope this picks up". Agreeably the show got off to a slow start with his admission that he missed his 10 year old daughter and was tiered of gigging. He fiddled with his guitars and monitor and engaged with the audience. At one point early into the show, a local man named Lawrence approached the stage and was told jokingly to F off.

The show did in fact pick up and in fact went on for an hour and a half. Were it not for the confines of G-d knows what that steers the end point of these shows, the Badly Drawn Boy show would have kept going. What a perfect closure awaited. With a little reflection to when he was 14 and a song changed his life, we all knew what was about to come. What we may not have seen coming was the overwhelming sense of oneness with the artist. One did not need to be a jersey shore teenager in angst to have been effected in the past or last night by "Thunder Road". I left with a little a tear in my eye and holding back a flood..." [Music Matters Man]

Badly Drawn Boy returns to the West Village venue tonight (12/4).

Badly Drawn Boy

"BADLY DRAWN BOY, aka Damon Gough, has announced details of a North American tour in October, his first in three years. The dates coincide with a new BADLY DRAWN BOY album slated for release on October 12th on The End Records. The two-week run will kick off in Boston on December 1st and wrap up with a two-night stand at Los Angeles' Troubadour."
That tour kicks off December 1st in Boston and then moves to NYC for two shows at Le Poisson Rouge (December 3rd and 4th). Tickets are on sale for both. All dates and a new video for a song off the new album (which is called IT'S WHAT I'M THINKING), below...

Air

Miami Herald: What can we expect from your show?
Air's JB Dunckel: The more we play, the less we are onstage -- we'll be three onstage, and last time we were five. We've worked on new designs for the video screen, and have new lights and new tracks, too.

MH: What are your respective roles when you perform?
JB: Nicolas is more into bass and guitar and vocoder, and I am more into keyboards and singing.

MH: Do you enjoy touring?
JB: There are some magic moments, but it's a lot of waiting and traveling. I enjoy playing onstage, of course, but I must say that sometimes...for example, when you cross Transylvania in a bus and it's snowing outside and you stay 23 hours on the bus without eating anything, it's not fun.

French duo Air are joined by Badly Drawn Boy drummer Alex Thomas on their current North American tour, which kicked off Saturday (3/13) in Miami.

They play Friday, March 19th at Terminal 5 with AM. Tickets are sold out (not totally surprising considering that it's their first US tour in 3 years), but there's always Craigslist.

They're touring in support of their new record, Love 2, and they recently released an iPhone app, Love by AIR (iTunes), which is "five different pages or 'soundscapes,' [that allow you to] transform the musical experience real-time by sampling and processing ambient sounds, your own voice and more into Air's own music. You can also record your own messages or performances with the application, and share your own unique productions of Air's music with friends and more." Their video for the song "So Light Is Her Footfall" and a preview trailer for the tour are is posted below...

Hipster BingoAm I Emo

I present to you two lame videos by confused "artists" - both using lame stereotypes. The first song is supposed to be about "emo bitches", and the second one was.... performed by some....
