Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses and Iron & Wine's Sam Beam are old friends and have now made an album together, titled Sing into My Mouth, which will be out at some point this sumnmer. On it, Sam and Ben take on other people's songs, including ones by Talking Heads, Pete Seeger, Spiratualized, Sade, John Cale, JJ Cale, and more. Says Ben:
As excited as I was at the prospect of finally working together, I was unsure of the possibility of us both finding the time. Luckily for me, Sam was persistent with the idea of recording some of our favorite tunes that we'd always wanted to cover. This is truly a 'full circle' moment for me... I've always wanted us to sing together and finally I have that dream realized. I couldn't be more excited to continue this project at the upcoming shows to take it even further while playing some of our original songs together.Sam adds:
Ben and I started our careers together and had been threatening to work with one another for years," Beam adds. "When we finally conceived of the covers project and carved out some time, it was nostalgic and fun from top to bottom--the process of picking the songs to cover was really reminiscent of more than 15 years ago when we used to mail each other cassettes and CDs of music we were into--and the end of every recording day found us cutting up with friends the way we used to when we'd cross paths in South Carolina. He's always been one of the funniest people I know.Full tracklist for Sing Into My Mouth is below.

Nine Inch Nails / Chance the Rapper / the crowd
Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor breaks into the explicit chorus of "Closer" and a spasm of impressionistic dancing breaks out among the fans stretched out to the south end of Butler Field. Has the Man from the Black Hole of '90s Industrial Music turned into a nostalgia act? Despite a set list dusted with vintage material, Reznor sounds like anything but a relic. The exceptional audio quality of the festival's northermost stage underlines not just the oppressive thrust of Reznor's music, but its eerie subtleties and darkly beautiful colorations as well. After a five-year hiatus, Reznor has retooled the band yet again, with a new album on the way. But everything still revolves around the leader and his exacting standards. A new song declares, "I'm just trying to find my way," but he hardly seems lost. - [Chicago Tribune]A somewhat soggy start to Lollapalooza on Friday (8/2), but that didn't seem to dampen anyone's spirits at Chicago's Grant Park, where bands played across eight stages. Here's a set of pictures from Friday night, featuring Nine Inch Nails, New Order, Band of Horses, Father John Misty, Chicago's own Chance the Rapper and more. We've got a second set of pics from Friday HERE

More of the big 2012 year-end lists have been rolling in, with NPR and SPIN recently revealing theirs, and now Rolling Stone have unleashed theirs. Similarly to Uncut, the expected albums from older artists are there, including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Dr. John, and the number one slot going to Bruuuuuuuuuuuce. It's got huge albums like Mumford and Sons, Taylor Swift, and fun., as well as the token high ranking indie album (Japandroids at #9), the token washed up band who was once classic (Green Day), things you knew you'd see on Rolling Stone's list like Jack White and Alabama Shakes, and... Grimes!
You can read the whole list below...
