Adam "Nergal" Darski, the 33-year-old guitarist/vocalist from Poland's greatest extreme-metal export, BEHEMOTH, has been diagnosed with a life-threatening form of leukemia, a cancer of blood-forming tissues of the bone marrow. The disease, for which Adam is currently receiving treatment at the hematology division of the Gdansk Medical University Hospital, has advanced to the point where he is in urgent need of a bone-marrow transplant. (A bone-marrow transplant is when special cells [called stem cells] that are normally found in the bone marrow are taken out, filtered, and given back either to the same person or to another person.) In light of this, Darski wants to remind everyone about the need to be on the marrow registry. The more people get tested and donate, the more of a chance for life there is for him and others in the same situation. -[Blabbermouth]Nergal received his first set of chemo treatments today and is "in great spirits" (according to Lamb of God's Randy Blythe), but is still in need of a bone marrow transplant. To learn more about how you can donate bone marrow, head to marrow.org.
Behemoth cancelled all previous dates of a tour with Watain, Withered, and Black Anvil. Now Watain have rescheduled, but this time with Black Anvil and Goatwhore. While Goatwhore isn't on the NYC date, they WILL play NYC on September 30th at Europa supporting The Black Dahlia Murder with Arkaik . Tickets are on sale.
Our wishes are with Nergal. All dates and some videos below...

Let us beer, Entombed!

Let the flood gates open... some of the great artists lined up for MDF are starting to announce US dates surrounding the epic festival. So far that list includes Converge and now the latest additions Entombed! The Swedish Death Metal masters have announced a string of US dates with Merauder including Gramercy Theater on June 2nd. Tickets are currently on presale.
Meanwhile, fellow Swedish Death Metal gods At The Gates are preparing The Flames of The End DVD, a 3DVD set that includes a documentary on the band, and entire live set from Wacken, and a compilation of live clips. Preorder that now.
It goes without saying that bands like At The Gates and Entombed have heavily influenced the current crop of metal big shots like The Black Dahlia Murder, who will also be in NYC in the coming months as part of a greater tour with the killer death metal of Obscura as well as Hatesphere and Augury. The NYC show is at Santos on 3/20. Tickets are on sale.

Skeletonwitch at Scion Rock Fest (more by Steven Brown)

Skeletonwitch must pretty much live in their van. Luckily that means that NYC has another SW date to look forward to, 11/14 at Union Pool with the incredamazing Black Anvil! Tickets are only $10 and currently on sale.
The Skeletonwitch show is one day of a "Blackened Weekend" from The Blackened Music Series, which also features the highly anticipated return of Krallice with Malkuth, Liturgy, and Orphan at Union Pool on 11/13, and the BV-sponsored Shrinebuilder/Rwake/Liturgy jawdropper at Le Poisson Rouge on 11/15 (tickets).
Liturgy is also playing with Malkuth at the previously discussed Mt Eerie / No Kids / Tara Jane O'Neil throwdown at Market Hotel on Halloween. Want to go? I HAVE A PAIR OF TICKETS AND A COPY OF Mt. Eerie's Wind Poems on LP for giveaway. Learn more at the bottom of this post.
Skeletonwitch recently dropped their new LP, Breathing The Fire and are currently on tour with Trap Them, Toxic Holocaust and The Black Dahlia Murder. That tour stirred up some controversy down south when they tried to play a Christian venue. Check out the news videos below along with a statement from Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust, and all Skeletonwitch and Orphan tour dates, below....
