"See you soon. MDF Thursday, I don't know how many shows in NYC on Saturday and Sunday in NJ." - Rorschach
Rorschach @ Maryland Deathfest - 5/24/2012
The Rorschach show at LPR this Saturday (5/26), that Converge was added to, is now sold out, but if you don't have a ticket, don't dispair. There are plenty of other ways to roar on Saturday courtesy of Black God who are now on an east coast tour. As previously mentioned, the Kentucky band that features members of Coliseum, Young Widows and By The Grace Of God, will play TWO NYC shows on Saturday, and both are sort of a mystery. The first, which was just finally listed on the venue's website with a "secret guest", is a matinee at ABC No Rio. The second is still just listed as "Sa 5/26 (night) - Brooklyn, NY @ Announced Day of Show!". Stay tuned!
Rorschach also play a show at Warehouse Motor Club in Middlesex, NJ on Sunday with Torchbearer, Too Many Voices, and Brain Slug (5pm, $10). They played Maryland Deathfest last night (Thursday). Review coming soon. That's one picture above. More below...
Tragedy at Emo's during Chaos in Tejas (more by Keith Marlowe)
Tragedy will release their new Billy-Anderson-produced LP Darker Days Ahead officially next week, but the band has been dropping copies of the release at shows on their current tour. Look for that release at a merch table near you at the dates below, including the NYC show at Le Poisson Rouge on 5/12 with Boston Strangler, Sickoids and Perdition. Tickets are still available for that one.
Tragedy played the Echoplex in LA last week and you can watch all of their set which includes a fair number of new tunes, below.
Tragedy's Louisville show is with Shaved Women (who play will NYC too), and Coliseum who will be without long-time bassist Mike Pascal who, as discussed on BV Chicago, has left the band.
Speaking of Coliseum, Ryan Patterson (of Coliseum)'s band, Black God, will be hitting the road for a string of tour dates including TWO in NYC, and both on May 26th. The first, a day show, will go down at ABC No Rio while the second, a night show, will be "announced day of show!" No word on exactly what or where that show might be, but stay tuned.
All tour dates, streams, and that Tragedy video, below...
Some may see Louisville punk band Black God as a continuation of the mighty Black Cross, but with songs like these, they definitely should stand on their own. Black God, made up of BC members Ryan Patterson (also Coliseum) and Rob Pennington (also Endpoint/By The Grace of God) as well as Nick Thieneman (Young Widows/Breather Resist), and Ben Sears (Mountain Asleep), is welcoming their second seven-inch via No Idea TODAY and are streaming that in full for the first time below.
We asked Rob Pennington and Ryan Patterson a few questions about the Black God project, the comparisons to Black Cross, the current status of Coliseum and Endpoint, and more in an interview that you can read, along with the 7" stream and a full live show video, below...
