White Fence
White Fence

As mentioned, White Fence's new album, Cyclops Reap, is out this week on John Dwyer's Castle Face label. Tim Presley doesn't seem to be running out of songs and this is another quality batch of paisley-scented psychedelia. You can stream "To The Boy I Jumped In The Hemlock Alley" below and hear the whole record over at Pitchfork.

White Fence will be in Brooklyn for the Northside Festival in June, playing two shows: the Panache showcase at Brooklyn Bowl on June 13 and then a late show at Knitting Factory on June 14. Tickets to the Knitting Factory show are on sale now; no word on Brooklyn Bowl tickets just yet.

The whole Panache showcase line-up is still forthcoming but we do know its being headlined by Mac DeMarco and we have updated dates for him below as well.

These are just a couple of the additions to the 2013 Northside line-up that includes that free Walkmen show in McCarren Park. Other new additions, Kylesa, Torche, Sonny & the Sunsets, Nü Sensae, Kisses, The Luyas and more. Northside line-up as it stands now is below.

White Hills at MHoW, Dec 2012 (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
White Hills

Brooklyn psychedelic-fuzz crew White Hills have teamed with the jammy Earthless for a split live EP available for FREE via Scion A/V. The effort will feature one track from each band culled from a recent Roadburn-curated event, and you can check out both below including a new interview with White Hills. The WH track and interview make its debut here on BV.

As mentioned, White Hills will hit the road for a string of US dates with Kylesa, Blood Ceremony and Lazer/Wulf. That tour hits NYC at Music Hall of Williamsburg on June 16 (tickets).

In related news, members of Earthless serve in Golden Void, who will team with Pontiak to play Union Pool on Saturday (4/6) alongside My God Music's Terrible. Tickets are still available. The show is the lone US date for Golden Void (who are on their way to Roadburn in the days following), and one of two shows for Pontiak, dates of which are listed below.

Blood Ceremony, White Hills and Lazer/Wulf will support on all dates, including Music Hall of Williamsburg on June 14. Tickets are still available for MHoW.

Kylesa at Maryland Deathfest 2011 (more by Fred Pessaro // BBG)

As discussed, Kylesa have released the new track "Unspoken," from their forthcoming LP Ultraviolet, due via Season of Mist on May 28. The crusty-sludge five-piece have stayed off of the road for the most part as well, but have a single date scheduled so far, and it is set for NYC. Look for Kylesa to headline Music Hall of Williamsburg on June 14 with the awesome Blood Ceremony, White Hills and Lazer/Wulf. Tickets go on AmEx presale on Wednesday (3/13) at noon and regular sale on Friday (3/15) at noon.

In other news, look for the great Blood Ceremony to play the Wings of Metal festival in Montreal at Katacombes on August 30 - 31. There the band will be joined by Satan, Midnight, Manilla Road, Megiddo and many others. Tickets are on sale.

Check out "Unspoken" from Ultraviolet below.

Even before the house was opened, the line snaked down the Bowery with eager metal fans clamoring to get a view of Ghost. Many on line were lucky enough to catch the band during a one-off date last year, while many like myself were seeing them for the first time on this night...

The band was extremely tight with both vocals and instrumentation. The live renditions of "Elizabeth," "Death Knell," "Ritual," and a dark cover of The Beatles' classic "Here Comes The Sun" both mesmorized the audience before melting their collective faces. Horns were raised high as the crowd song along knowing each and every word throughout the band's set. This lyrical devotion was overly apparent when they played "Satan Prayer" which was the best song performance of the evening. During the chorus, 'the cardinal' gave the metal hungry crowd several chances to sing the hook, often staring directly at us with his piercing eyes, using his hands to lead us like some type of satanic conductor. -[Local Bozo]

Ghost kicked off their string of US dates with Blood Ceremony and Ancient VVisdom at Bowery Ballroom on January 18th. Pictures and setlists from Bowery, as well as remaining tour dates, are below...

Ghost at the Studio in June (more by Greg Cristman)

Sweden's Ghost were forced to cancel their last US tour due to visa issues which would have hit Gramercy Theater this past September. Like their fellow Swedes in Graveyard, who faced a similar fate, they've scheduled another US tour for early 2012. They'll kick off the tour, which has been dubbed "13 Dates Of Doom," at NYC's Bowery Ballroom on January 18. Tickets for the NYC show go on sale Friday (11/11) at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (11/9) at noon. All dates and the tour flier are below.

Blood Ceremony
Blood Ceremony

If you're off to any of these shows, be sure to catch Toronto band Blood Ceremony, who open for Ghost each night, along with Ancient Wisdom. Earlier this year, they released their sophomore LP, Living With The Ancients, which, like their self titled debut, is filled with doomy Sabbathian riffs and the occasional psych-folk passage. While tons of doom bands have taken similar routes, frontwoman Alia O'Brien gives the formula a twist. While the guys are busy riffing on heavy blues, Alia provides sharp Jethro Tull-esque flute lines, psych/garage organ, and a demonic voice casting spells of witchcraft and the occult. You can stream a couple tracks from Living With The Ancients below.

All dates, song streams, and tour flier below...
