Prince Rama at Basilica Festival - 8/11/12 (via BrooklynVegan Instagram)
Brooklyn experimentalists Prince Rama played the Basilica Music Festival in Hudson, NY over the weekend (pictured above). Their set was on Saturday (8/11) along with sets by Gang Gang Dance, The Psychic Paramount, Hiro Kone, and others.
As mentioned, Prince Rama and Gang Gang Dance will again share a bill on September 23 at 285 Kent, which is one of three NYC shows for GGD, who also play Public Assembly on September 21 with Sun Araw and Cameo on September 22 with New Moods. Tickets for Cameo and 285 Kent and tickets for Public Assembly are still available.
You can also catch Prince Rama in NYC even sooner than that when they play DUMBO Summer Friday (presented by Northside, the DUMBO Improvement District, and The O Music Awards Unboxed) on Friday, August 17 with Javelin, Zambri, and Bosco Delrey. It's a day show (start time: 2 PM) and happens at the DUMBO Archway (corner of Anchorage Place and Water St in Brooklyn). There will also be DJs, sound installations by Laura Vitale and food from The Brooklyn Flea.
Prince Rama will release their new album, Top Ten Hits Of The End Of The World, on November 6 via Animal Collective's Paw Tracks label (they're also set to support AnCo on their European tour). They recently revealed the first taste of that album with the track "So Destroyed," which you can download above (via Stereogum) or stream below.

Major Lazer at Governors Ball 2012 (more by Amanda Hatfield)
Diplo's Major Lazer project (which Switch is no longer a part of), who is set to play the Mad Decent Block Parties this summer, have just announced their own NYC show, which goes down on October 27 at Terminal 5. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (8/3) at noon. A full Major Lazer tour has not been announced yet but a few other North American October dates exist, all of which are listed below.
Meanwhile, we recently mentioned that more details for the summer's free Mad Decent Block Parties have been revealed, and that the NYC party will go down on August 5 at Williamsburg Park with Major Lazer, Erol Alkan, Bonde Do Role, Lunice, Riff Raff, Mr Muthafuckin' eXquire, Reptar, Zebra Katz, Bosco Delrey, Baauer, Kito, and Paul Devro. The party is free and all ages but RSVP is required.
Mad Decent has also just announced that they'll throw a Puma-presented official (21+) after party at Music Hall of Williamsburg that night (8/5). The only performers listed as of this post are Erol Alkan (who plays the party in Williamsburg Park) and "guests." Tickets for the party are on sale now.

Bonde Do Role at Bowery Ballroom in 2008 (more by Bao Nguyen)
Back in June, we mentioned that the Mad Decent Block Parties were returning this summer and then earlier this month, they revealed a list of artists, but didn't say who was playing each city. Now venues have been revealed for all five parties and the lineups for NYC Philly, and Toronto have been announced as well. The FREE NYC party will happen on August 5 at WIlliamsburg Park (in previous years it was at the South Street Seaport) with Major Lazer, Erol Alkan, Bonde Do Role, Lunice, Riff Raff, Mr Muthafuckin' eXquire, Reptar, Zebra Katz, Bosco Delrey, Baauer, Kito, and Paul Devro. The parties are free and all ages but RSVP is required. All announced lineups are listed below.
Speaking of Lunice, his collaborative project with Hudson Mohawke, TNGHT (pronounced "tonight") released their self titled debut EP this week (7/24) via Warp/Lucky Me. If you've yet to hear it, you can stream the entire thing below.
As for Bonde Do Role, the block party will be their first NYC show quite a while. You may remember that their original singer, Marina Ribatski left the band in 2007 and was replaced by two other singers, Ana Bernardino and Laura Taylor, who joined the band by winning an audition done with MTV Brasil. Ana has since left the band too and they are now a 3-piece fronted only by Laura Taylor. The new incarnation of the band put out their first album in five years, Tropical/Bacanal, last month via Mad Decent. The album was co-produced by Diplo and Filip Nikolic of Poolside (who have two NYC shows this week). The album features guest appearances from Caetano Veloso, Das Racist, Cecile, Rizzle Kicks, and The Death Set (who also has a NYC show coming up). The video for album track "Kilo" and a stream of another track, "Bang," which features Kool AD of Das Racist, are below.
Updated Mad Decent Block Parties info, the flier for the NYC party, video and streams are below.

As mentioned, the parties are all ages and free, and RSVP is open.

Black Bananas at Terminal 5 in February (more by Chris La Putt)
Black Bananas (formerly RTX) will be in NYC next month for the previously discussed free Hudson River Park show on August 18 with The Kills and Viva Viva. Though the show is free, physical tickets are required and it appears to be "sold out."
One day before that show, Black Bananas will play their own, not-free smaller show at Mercury Lounge (8/17) with Bosco Delrey and Wild Yaks. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (7/13) at noon with an AmEx presale starting today (7/11) at noon.
Black Bananas recently made a video for "Foxy Playground" off their 2012 LP, Rad Times Xpress IV. Check that out below, along with a list of all dates...
The Death Set at Williamsburg Waterfront, 2010 (more by Leia Jospe)
While not on a full tour, The Death Set are playing select dates this summer, including a visit to the NXNE in Toronto and Osheaga in Montreal as well as two NYC shows: XPO 929 on June 28 with Team Spirit, Bosco Delrey and Eula, and Bowery Ballroom on July 31 with Ninjasonik and Hussle Club. Tickets to the XPO show are already on sale, and Bowery tickets go on sale Friday (6/8) at noon. All listed Death Set tour dates are at the bottom of this post.
The band recently released a new video for their song "Is it the End Again?" which is the "ballad" from last year's Michel Poiccard LP. It's a little NSFW, and you can watch it below.
The indirectly-yet-directly Grammy-nominated Quintron & Miss Pussycat, the musical husband-wife duo, will hit the road for an extensive set of tour dates. The band, who cancelled their last tour, and are still basking in the glory of their Sucre Du Sauvage LP, will kick off their three-month tour in Atlanta at The Earl, before heading North to play two NYC shows: at 285 Kent on 4/28 with Bosco Delrey, Cellular Chaos, DJ Musa and Glittering Prizes, and Mercury Lounge on 4/29 with The K-Holes, Josh Dust (of White Fence), DJ Tony Lo-Fi. Tickets are on sale for Mercury Lounge. They also play ATP I'll Be Your Mirror in Asbury Park, NJ. All tour dates and a video below.
Puerto Rico's Los Vigilantes, a garage punk band with ties to another Puerto Rican band of similar style (guitarist Jota Vigilante has played as a live member of Davila 666 and played on their Tan Bajo LP), are in the US and on the road right now. All remaining dates on their tour, which started before SXSW, are listed below.
Los Vigilantes are in Ohio now and making their way to the NYC-area where they'll make an appearance at WFMU followed by a show at Don Pedro on 4/14. They play the Bell House on 4/15 as part of a show being called "Garage Fest" with Freshkills, White Mystery, Mighty Fine, and Bosco Delrey along with DJs Captain Heartlock, Charly, Drew Redmond, and Jay Space. Tickets for the Bell House are on sale.
All tour dates and a stream of the band's self-titled effort below...
