Beverly at Cake Shop in April (more by Amanda Hatfield)
Beverly
Rat Fist
Rat Fist

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows, but here are some highlights...

Beverly, Future Punx, Wildhoney @ Baby's All Right
Beverly's debut album, Careers, is full of effortlessly catchy indie pop (think prime Kim Deal) and is celebrated tonight with help from new wave revivalists Future Punx and Wildhoney.

Say Anything, The Front Bottoms, The So So Glos, You Blew It! @ Best Buy Theater
Say Anything are out supporting their new album and they've brought some pretty excellent openers along: NJ lyrical folk/pop punks The Front Bottoms, NYC power poppy punks The So So Glos, and Florida '90s emo lovers You Blew It!.

Phony PPL, Toki Wright, Tracee Owo, Allan Kingdom @ Brooklyn Night Bazaar
Brooklyn Night Bazaar offers weekends of local artisan shopping, gourmet eats, beer and wine, ping pong, black light minigolf and music all under one Greenpoint roof.

The English Beat @ City Winery
If you aren't too concerned that Dave Wakeling is the only original member of the band, and don't mind hearing General Public songs too, you'll probably have a good time singing along to "Save it for Later," "Mirror in the Bathroom" and "Tenderness."

Rat Fist (mems No Age, Pissed Jeans), Pampers, Francisco Franco, Tom Blacklung @ Death by Audio
Rat Fist is the new band of No Age guitarist Randy Randall and Pissed Jeans drummer Sean McGuinness, and they make the kind of noisy racket you'd expect from members of No Age and Pissed Jeans. Tonight's their first of two NYC shows, both in tiny venues where stuff like this belongs.

A/JUS/TED, Dimitri From Paris, Pantha Du Prince (live), DJ Spoko @ MoMA PS1
As always, Warm Up brings tons of forward thinking electronic music (and some other stuff like rap, indie pop, etc) to MoMA PS1's courtyard for very hot, very popular all-day dance parties. Tonight's the first show of this year's series with a typically great and eclectic lineup.

Young Magic, Doe Paoro, Rioux, Doldrums (DJ set) @ Rough Trade
Young Magic are from Brooklyn but exist in a sexy dreamworld where Sade and the Cocteau Twins work on records together. Or something like that. Their new album, Breathing Statues, came out in May.

Sargeist, One Tall One Head, Typhus, Forteresse, Sacrament Ov Impurity @ Saint Vitus
Martyrdoom III, the third annual five-day metal festival at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus, is on day 2 with Finnish black metal greats Sargeist.

ONO, Obnox, Cloud Becomes Your Hand, The Dreebs @ Shea Stadium
Obnox is one of the many projects of Cleveland punk musician Lamont Thomas, but while he usually drums, for this one he takes the lead and brings elements of soul, R&B, hip hop and more into it too.

Shady Hawkins, Mannequin Pussy, Free Pizza, Acidosis @ Silent Barn
NYC punks Mannequin Pussy have been regulars on the local scene for a while now, but have just signed to Tiny Engines who are releasing their new album of whiplash punk.

Drive-By Truckers, The Hold Steady @ The Paramount
The Hold Steady and Drive-By Truckers both recently released new albums, and both will be on their own tours this summer. Their paths intersect for two co-headlining NY-area shows, this being the first.

Gameface, Restorations, Habits @ The Studio at Webster Hall
Gameface were one of the early/influential post-hardcore bands of Revelation Records back in the '90s, and now they're reunited and put out their first album since 2003 this year. Opening this show is great newer band Restorations.

Infest, Paint It Black, Replica, Ajax @ The Wick
Speaking of influential punk bands, powerviolence pioneers Infest are also reunited and on their second of two NYC shows tonight (their first ever here). Philly greats Paint It Black make this an unstoppable double bill for hardcore.

IIII, Highlife, Brian Degraw (DJ) @ Union Pool (Summer Thunder)
If you like drums, you'll want to hit Union Pool's weekly free Saturday outdoor party, today featuring IIII which is Hisham Akira Bharoocha(Soft Circle / Boredoms), Ryan Sawyer (Lonewolf), Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and Ben Vida. Bands usually start around 4PM.

Azealia Banks @ Capitale
It's NYC Pride Week and part of the celebrations include tonight's show from Azealia Banks. Maybe she'll play stuff from her upcoming album (lol).

Luciano, Sandra St. Victor @ Prospect Park Bandshell
Reggae is the theme of this evening's Celebrate Brooklyn! concert, featuring roots worshiper Luciano and The Family Stand's Sandra Sat. Victor.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Stagnant Pools @ MHOW
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah may be missing much of the lineup they began with, and this once-buzzy band is buzzy no longer, but they do still make quality indie rock. Opening are Stagnant Pools who are a little shoegazy and also probably own the first two Strokes albums.

Del Close Marathon
It's Upright Citizens Brigade's annual three-day fest with over 420 comedy performances. A $30 wristband gets you into as many as you can muster.

Sam Sparro, Ultra Nat?, Kevin Aviance, Alfa Anderson, Luci Martin, Norma Jean Wright (ex-Chic) @ Central Park Summerstage
It's a big disco night at Summerstage bileld "Club Classics Live!" with a number of veterans.

Pearson Sound, Vissacoor, Teengirl Fantasy, Rrose, Sinjin Hawke, Aquarian @ 88 Palace
It's a big dance party night in Chinatown with this stacked Sick Magic-presented bill.

Jimmy Edgar, Lauren Flax, Braille @ Output (roof)
It's another afternoon (3 PM) dance party on the roof at Output, and a pretty good lineup all around.

Primus @ Stone Pony
Get your bass face ready because four-string wizard Les Claypool and the rest of the Primus crew are back in town for two area shows, this being the second.

Avicii @ Barclays Center
Avicii's in town, prepare for the streets of Brooklyn to be flooded with kids on molly after this one ends. (And be safe guys!)

For all of tonight's shows, and tomorrow's, check out our NYC concert calendar.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.

DJ Dodger Stadium made this week's Warm Up/FADER Mix, and you download that above, or stream it below.

Meanwhile, Julio Bashmore got to NYC a little earlier in the week to open for fellow Jessie Ware collaborators Disclosure at their Central Park show with TNGHT. At that show, Sam Smith joined Disclosure on stage for "Latch," and he plays his own NYC show TONIGHT (8/8) at Mercury Lounge (sold out). Beacon at Mercury Lounge - 5/4/13

Brooklyn electronic pop duo Beacon released their new album, The Ways We Separate, last week (4/30) and celebrated it with a release show on Saturday (5/4) at Mercury Lounge, a one-off before their mini spring tour, which begins later this month. Support at the show came from Braille (aka Praveen Sharma aka 1/2 of Sepalcure) and Montreal's Solar Year. Pictures from the show are in this post.

Solar Year next plays NYC as an opener for the previously discussed Actress show at Cameo on June 6. That show is also with Gobby, who you can see sooner opening for Majical Cloudz at Glasslands (5/21) (tickets) and at UNO's free Red Bull Music Academy showcase on May 28 at Le Baron. Sepalcure

Sepalcure (aka Machinedrum and Braille) released their impressive self titled debut LP back in 2011 and they're set to follow it with a new EP, Make You, on April 15 via Hotflush. From the sounds of the EP sampler, which you can listen to below, Make You does a pretty good job of picking up where the ambient textures and garage rhythms of the full length left off. In addition to the EP sampler, you can also listen to a full stream of the EP's title track below.

Sepalcure will be celebrating the new EP with a release party in Brooklyn at Output on April 25. The show is being opened by Jimmy Edgar, who collaborates with Machinedrum in JETS. Maybe we'll get some JETS material at the show too? Tickets for that show are on sale now. Show flyer below.

Meanwhile, you can catch Braille again when he opens for Beacon at their previously mentioned show at Mercury Lounge on May 4. Tickets for that show are still available.

Streams and show flyer below...

Dauwd (photo by Jasmin Bell)
Dauwd

UK producer Dauwd spent a chunk of 2011 releasing delicate future garage singles and he's now set to release his debut EP, Heat Division, on March 12 via Ghostly (US) and Pictures (UK/EU). The first taste of that EP is its closing track, "And," which sees Dauwd moving more towards deep house and away from the future garage of his previous singles. It's got a harder edge than his earlier work, but pays just as much attention to detail. You can stream it, and check out the EP's album art and tracklist below.

Dauwd will be coming to the US in March for SXSW, and while he's here, he'll stop in NYC for a show on March 7 at Glasslands with Chrome Sparks and Braille (aka Praveen Sharma, aka 1/2 of Sepalcure). Tickets for the NYC show are on sale now.

A list of all dates (including a post-SXSW show in San Francisco with Com Truise, Shigeto, and Heathered Pearls), song stream, album art and tracklist below...

Sepalcure at LPR - 12/30/12 (via Heathered Pearls)
Sepalcure

Sepalcure (aka Machinedrum and Braille) just played a NYC show at Le Poisson Rouge (pictured above) right before 2012 wrapped up (12/30) after their tour with Shlohmo came to a close. Machinedrum stuck around for one more NYC show last week before heading over to Europe, but Braille is still around and will play a NYC show this Friday (1/11) at Cameo with Archie Pelago, Contakt, Nooka Jones, and Enoe. Admission for that show is $8 at the door or $5 with RSVP.

The show is a release party for Cambio, the compilation album by Percussion Lab which features songs by Sepalcure, Braille, Machinedrum, Shigeto, Daedelus (who's touring soon), Mux Mool, and more. You can stream that compilation in its entirety, along with a few other Braille tracks, below.

Sepalcure
Sepalcure

Sepalcure (aka Machinedrum and Braille) and Shlohmo are going on a three-date audio/visual tour this December. That tour unfortunately doesn't come to NYC, but Sepalcure have tacked on a NYC show happening right afterwards on December 30 at Le Poisson Rouge. Machinedrum of Sepalcure will open the show, along with Brooklyn Bass DJs. Tickets for the show are on sale now.

Meanwhile, you can catch both Shlohmo and Braille of Sepalcure in NYC at Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival this weekend. Braille plays Cameo Gallery tonight (11/9) at 1 AM (so technically Saturday) and Shlohmo plays Public Assembly on Saturday (11/10) at 1 AM (so technically Sunday). Festival passes are still available.

As mentioned on BV Chicago, Machinedrum recently teamed up with Jimmy Edgar to release a self titled EP under the moniker, Jets. Machinedrum also recently dropped a new song called "Diablo." You can listen to that and some cuts from the Jets EP, along with a list of all Sepalcure dates, below.
