Paris resident Thibaut Berland has been making music as Breakbot for about six years, releasing a string of singles on French labels Ed Banger and Because Music, with a sound honed in on that short late '70s period where soft rock and disco met. He came to global attention with his fantastic 2010 single "Baby I'm Yours" featuring the honeyed vocals of frequent collaborator Irfane, as well as a striking watercolor-rotoscoped video.
Breakbot released his full-length debut, By Your Side, in 2012 which only got a digital release in America. Nonetheless, Breakbot will be here in March for a short North American tour, including a stop at the Girls & Boys party at Webster Hall on March 22. It's a live performance with with vocalist Irfane in tow and tickets are on sale now.
Check out a few of Breakbot's videos and a list of all tour dates below.

Chromeo at Williamsburg Waterfront in 2010 (more by Chris Gersbeck)
This was the third year that Electric Zoo, an electronic music festival featuring world-renowned DJs, shuttled and ferried fans across the East River to Randall's Island on Labor Day weekend to dance. But this time the fest that began as a modest weekend event was something more, drawing crowds that were large even by music festival standards: Expanded to three days, the Zoo hosted 85,000 people, up from 50,000 over two days last year.More about Electric Zoo later...
The scantily clad throngs, wearing neon sunglasses, pacifiers, furry go-go boots and bikini tops--and sometimes body paint in lieu of a top--prompted several DJs to declare a return of the rave scene to New York.
"It just eventually comes back," said David Macklovitch of the duo Chromeo. "We're definitely getting '90s vibes." [Wall Street Journal]
Now that Chromeo have played the Randall's Island fest, they've expanded their previously announced 'Night Falls Tour' with Mayer Hawthorne and Breakbot to include a NYC show happening on November 4 at Terminal 5. Tickets go on sale Friday (9/9) at noon with an internet presale (username: chromeo, password: tickets) and an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (9/7) at noon.
