Tickets go on Ticketmaster presale (password = BOWBYRNE) @ 9AM for the recently added David Byrne show at Radio City Music Hall in NYC (2/28). The February 27th show is sold out.
In other David Byrne news, he's been writing about a recent trip to Brazil on his blog. For instance...
Paulinha throws a party at the house in the evening. There is a room with rotating fans set up for dancing (I do) and 2 Baianas on a patio making acarajé and abara (the steamed rather than deep fried version of the bean cake). A bartender makes caipirinhas and batidas out of fresh maracuja (passion fruit). While he was there he also "picked up a pile of CDs" - "Some contemporary stuff like Lenine, but mostly Afro-Samba bands, Northeastern stuff and some other beautifully recorded folkloric artists..." And that's how he programmed his current Radio David Byrne playlist.Arto Lindsay is here with his wife. I haven't seen him in years. He's been in Salvador for a number of years, but now he's moving to Rio as there will be more work there. Good to see him.
We leave around two and we hear that, at four AM, just as the party was winding down, Seu Jorge and Beth Carvalho (the singers) show up -- both of them with their entourages. The bartenders rolled their eyes as if to say "now the party will start all over again".
He also wrote an interesting blog post about the battle between Bratz and Barbie (Bratz lost).
The above picture is of the Deluxe version of David Byrne and Brian Eno's new album.
All tour dates HERE.

I haven't checked to see if the February 27th show is completely sold out yet, but it looks like they're adding a 2nd David Byrne show at Radio City Music Hall. Tickets for the new February 28th show go on sale Monday at noon. All dates below...

Pardon the bulk mailing. I Can't Vote. I am an immigrant with a Green Card and, therefore, I am not eligible to vote in a federal election. ... On Election Day, I see my neighbors heading to the nearby elementary school to cast their ballots. The voting booth joint is a great leveler; the whole neighborhood - rich, poor, old, young, decrepit and spunky - they all turn out in one day.David Byrne played the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ last night. Did you go? How was it? More tour dates HERE. Set list below. Still waiting for the NYC show announcement. But most of you can vote. What can I say? The Republicans have made us less safe than before 9/11, bankrupted this economy, started an illegal war they can't - and don't intend to - finish, removed what sympathy (after 9/11) and respect the world had for the US, and have robbed US citizens of many of their basic rights.
Global warming? What's that? Science and education? Investment in our future? No, thanks - we'll stick with a good 'ole hockey mom. Ignorant, and fucking proud of it, as is always the case.
Although it looks like a shoo-in, it ain't over 'til Florida. And there are plenty of racists in this country who will vote against their own best interests. So please, get to your local elementary school, post office, town hall, or whatever, and cast your vote and make this a country we can all be proud of. We can get out of this mess, and life can be better than it is.

Last night, Thursday, September 25th, David Byrne kicked off the non-festival grounds portion of the 2008 Austin City Limits Music Festival with a performance at The Paramount. He played some Eno-produced Talking Heads crowd favorites as well as songs off his new Eno-produced album, "Everything That Happens Will Happen Today." We don't have the setlist, but you can get an idea of what he played by looking at the one from the first night of the tour.
It was a loaded performance with backup dancers whose choreography complemented Byrne's tunes perfectly. Byrne and co. will do it again Friday night, this time as one of the actual ACL festival headliners on a day (today) that will also see performances by Yeasayer, Vampire Weekend, Gogol Bordello, Jamie Lidell, Hot Chip, Jenny Lewis, N.E.R.D, The Swell Season, The Mars Volta and Manu Chao. You can view the entire ACL festival schedule HERE. More pictures of David Byrne below...
