First Weezer was announced for Burger Records' Burgerarma Four festival, and more recently it's been announced that Burger signed The Relationship, the band fronted by original (and current) Weezer guitarist Brian Bell. They've had a rotating lineup, but Brian's currently joined by drummer Anthony Burulcich (who was in The Bravery and briefly in Morrissey's live band), bassist John LaRue (who's also worked with Albert Hammond Jr), and guitarist Nate Shaw. Their new 7", "Oh Allen," will be out April 8 via Burger, and you can watch a video of them playing that song at last year's Weezer Cruise, below.
The Relationship are also on Burgerama Four, and right after that they'll head out on a lengthy US tour with support from Gringo Star. The tour hits NYC on April 29 at The Studio at Webster Hall. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (3/6) at 1 PM. All dates are listed below.
And in other Weezer news, Detour, the upcoming FOX sitcom based on Rivers Cuomo's life, has found its Rivers. Deadline reports that British actor Ben Aldridge will star as Michael Sturges (the character based on Rivers), and that Joey Morgan will be cast in the pilot too. The pilot was written by Psych creator Steve Franks and directed by Jeremy Garelick.

La Luz y Ty (photo via @laluzband)
Seattle's best young surf band, La Luz, are currently in the studio with producer and former tourmate Ty Segall, working on their second album for Hardly Art. That's exciting! They're still in the mixing stage and haven't come up with a title for the album yet. Stay tuned. You can stream their first album via Rdio below.
In the meantime, La Luz are getting ready to tour their way to and from SXSW. That unfortunately doesn't bring them to the Northeast (DC is as north as they're going), but they'll be playing Burgerama Four and other dates. All are listed, along with a full-set video recorded at KEXP, below.

Jacco Gardner has signed with Polyvinyl who will release his new album, Hypnophobia, on May 5. That's the cover art above which was designed by Julian House, best known for his work with Stereolab and Broadcast. As for the album's title, Jacco explains:
I came up with the title "Hypnophobia" while falling asleep and part of my brain just didn't turn off. I often have trouble letting go of reality, even though I prefer the world in my dreams... Hypnophobia comes from a place where fears, darkness and creativity collide, like a slightly scary lucid dream. Fearing a loss of control definitely plays a big part of it.You can check out Hypnophobia's first single, "Find Yourself," which is another of his catchy baroque-psych concoctions. Stream it below.
Over in March for SXSW and Burgerama, Jacco will also be playing a few West Coast dates with his former Trouble in Mind labelmates Ultimate Painting. No East Coast dates announced yet (he played NYC last summer). All dates are listed below.
Man, Burger Records is really feeling the Angus Soundtrack '90s kids lately. First they signed The Muffs and now they've booked Weezer for their fourth Burgerama festival happening March 28-29 at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA. And that's not their only kinda-crazy booking this year. They've also got Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, the current version of Gang of Four, and of course plenty of awesome more expected names like Ty Segall, Black Lips, J Mascis, Ariel Pink, Roky Erickson, King Khan & BBQ Show, FIDLAR, White Fence, together PANGEA, The Queers, The Coathangers, Shannon and the Clams, JEFF the Brotherhood, La Luz, Girl Band and still plenty more as you can see in the full lineup below. Tickets go on sale at 10 AM PST on Friday (12/12).

Mac DeMarco / FIDLAR / together PANGEA / White Fang
On Sunday, Canadian singer-songwriter Mac DeMarco was preparing for his set in the green room when we caught up with him. "I used to think Burger was just garage, but it's more 'anything goes' nowadays," said DeMarco. His set on the main stage bounced between funky guitars that shimmered and dipped low during a spaced-out rendition of "Ode to Viceroy," where DeMarco celebrated his favorite brand of cigarettes through song...In addition to Georgia soul singer Curtis Harding, the second day (3/23) of Burgerama III in Santa Ana, CA featured a lot of wild, widely diverse sets -- FIDLAR, Mac DeMarco, metal band Sleep, together PANGEA, White Fang and more all wound up the party-hardy throngs of crowd-surfers. Belated pics from Burgerama III day 2 are in this post.
..."I just want to get really high, smoke weed until I die," sang [FIDLAR singer Zac] Carper, who banged up his knees pretty badly early in the set. The letters for FIDLAR appeared above the stage in flaming letters that resembled the Vegas skyline on the Fourth of July, while the band scared the shit out of everyone by tossing small firecrackers into a puddle of water and beer that covered the stage - which at times, looked like it was ready to go up in flames. At points, the entire surrounding area smelled like gun powder, cheap beer, and weed. - [LA Weekly]
White Fang, meanwhile, bring their tour with fellow Burger band Denney & the Jets to Brooklyn's Glasslands on Saturday (4/19) with Hector's Pets on the bill as well. Tickets to that show are still available.

Curtis Harding @ Burgerama III, 3/23/2013
Atlanta's Curtis Harding played one of my favorite sets I saw during SXSW where his "magnetism, pipes and chops were evident from note one." The guy's the real deal. Harding will release his debut album, Soul Power, on May 6 via Burger Records. You can check out the video for horn-fueled first single "Keep on Shining" below.
Right after SXSW, Curtis headed to Santa Ana, CA for Burgerama III where he played day 2 (3/23). A belated set of pictures from his set there are in this post. The rest of the day 2 pics are here, and day 1 pics are here.

Black Lips / Coathangers / NOBUNNY / Burger
Burgerama III happened last month at Santa Ana, CA's The Observatory featuring a whole lot of bands on Burger Records' extensive, denim-clad roster. Day 1 (3/22) featured Black Lips and The Coathangers, both of whom played NYC last night (4/17) at Webster Hall and Baby's All Right, respectively. Day one also featured sets from sleazo punks The Dwarves, sleazo bubblegarage dude NOBUNNY, Detroit protopunk band Death, LA teens Cherry Glazzer, more bands, much crowdsurfing and general insanity. A belated set of pics from day 1 are in this post. And check out day 2 pics here.

Brazilian duo Boogarins released their psych-pop-heavy LP, As Plantas Que Curam, last year via Other Music Recording Company. The band have a new video for album cut "Erre" which features some cool old-school animation and you can watch that below.
Having already let us know they were playing SXSW and Austin Psych Fest, Boogarins have announced their first full-scale North American tour. Some of those dates are with Merge-signed Vertical Scratchers (John Schmersal of Brainiac/Enon's new band), including that band's NYC show at Glasslands on March 25. Tickets are still available.
Before Austin Psych Fest, Boogarins will have a few dates with Temples, and after they'll open a few shows for of Montreal. All dates are listed, along with the new video, below...
Gap Dream @ Bowery Ballroom, 10/5/2013 (more by Dylan Johnson)
We mentioned briefly yesterday that Black Lips would be playing this year's edition of Burger Records' Burgerama fest which happens at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA on March 23 & 24. Today, the Burger folks released the initial line-up for Burgerama III which is pretty killer if you're into the rock n' roll lifestyle the store/label has become synonymous with. Among the acts playing this year: Mac DeMarco, Death, FIDLAR, Nobunny, Gap Dream, Kool Keith (!), Allah-Las, The Orwells, The Tyde and loads more. Full lineup below.
Tickets for Burgerama III go on sale Friday (1/10) at noon PST.

As mentioned, The Growlers are headlining the "Burgerama Caravan of All-Stars Tour" which hits NYC on October 5 at Bowery Ballroom with Cosmonauts, Gap Dream, and Together Pangea. The line-up has expanded since our first posting, and now also includes Brooklyn's Habibi, Portland scuzz-pop inhalers White Fang and LA's charming bedroom pop songwriter, Colleen Green. Tickets are still available.
Before that show, some of those bands -- Colleen Green and White Fang -- will play Death By Audio on October 2 with The Memories (who also play select Burgerama dates) and Hector's Pets also on the bill.
Speaking of the label and the venue, Burger is presenting a show at Death by Audio on October 18 with Fletcher C. Johnson, Tough Shits, Zig Zags, Habibi, Peach Kelli Pop and Dirty Fences. That's during CMJ but it's not an official show. It is, however, FREE.
All Burgerama and Colleen Green dates are listed, along with a Colleen Green video and White Fang stream, below.
I have cyclops vision now. But I'm not a giant. I changed my name and body only, and stabbed my social nous in the right ear. I still read fear but there are no police this year. I can repeat the same dream. I can let birds talk to me. I'm in jail. I have love and a whistle. I lay where the lotus lay and then spring the frozen flowers on any giving day. I apologize to those put in the trees, but I was gathering the Cyclops reap.Tim Presley's White Fence put out three albums last year -- two on their own and a collaborative one with Ty Segall. They're already gearing up for their next one, Cyclops Reap, which will be out April 9 via Castle Face, the label run by John Dwyer of Thee Oh Sees. Castle Face seems to be ramping up releases lately, what with the great Warm Soda album and a new Oh Sees record out on the label in April.
In the span of 4 1/2 years. I've lived in two different apartments and have used three different rooms during this time. All in Echo Park, Los Angeles, CA, only a couple miles from one another. After the death of my father in 2008 I started writing and recording non-stop in these rooms. I can't say it was directly because of that trauma, but I think deep down it might have much to do about it. This record was initially going to be a collection of the many songs trapped between the 4 White Fence LP's. As i was putting that together, there were more coming. a better crop. i couldn't stop. So, instead of a retrospective i said "Fuck It". might as well use the most current songs of the bunch. For the exception of "Make Them Dinner At Our Shoes" which is from 2009. - Tim Presley
You can stream "Pink Gorilla" from the new White Fence album and check out the tracklist below. The band haven't announced a formal tour but will be playing Burgerama, Austin Psych Fest and a few more select dates, and those are listed below.
Bleached's debut album, Ride Your Heart, will be out April 2 via Dead Oceans. That's the cover art above. You can stream the album's single "Next Stop" below and, like just about everything else we've heard from Jennifer and Jessie Clavin so far, it's pretty damn catchy.
Bleached will be in Austin for SXSW, then hitting Santa Ana, California for Burgerama II which will be followed by a proper North American tour, inlcudinga NYC show at Bowery Ballroom on April 23 with Hunters. Tickets to that show go on AmEx presale today (1/30) at noon with the regular on-sale happening Friday (2/1) at noon.
All Bleached tour dates, plus that single stream, are listed below.
